reverendzed Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Hey guys, I'm keen to know if anyone has a lead on a freight company that would pick up a motor in NSW for transport to Vic. I'm still finding it hard to find an L28 for a rebuild locally. If anyone can help out with either a freight company or a motor here in Vic I'd appreciate you letting me know. Rev. Quote
sco_aus Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I just used airroaddirect to get a 400kg diesel to canberra from Bundaberg. It wasnt cheap, but that was due to it being rural and a fair distance. Their customer service wasnt brilliant, but the guy I had was useless, the other staff seem pretty good and fixed his mistakes. So if ya call them and get the guy, hang up and try again. I hear northline freight are good too, but they were $80 more for what I wanted. I would try both if i were you. Air road direct: 1300 555 450 Northline: Client Services: 1300 722 534 It should give you the sydney dept. Just to make it easier for you, for a quote using the largest pallette size, 117W x117L x 50H approx. Due to the lower weight of the engine, the smaller the pallette the cheaper it will be, the weight wont make any difference unless it weighs more than 190kgs approx. So tell whom ever it is with the engine to use the smallest pallette possible. Scott Quote
dazzed Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 hi rev , dont go to all the trouble of shipping a L28 from sydney not worth it , chances are its due for rebuild anyway, you already have motors use them, just bore out your L26 to 2.8 dont worry about sonic testing just do it your only boring it out 1.5mm from 83 to 86mm just throw some dished 280z pistons at it and use the E88 head just put new inlet valve seats in it , change your diff over from the manual car, an automatic diff is 3.54 and a 260z 1st gear is quite tall already at 2.09 if you leave the 3.54 diff in it the clutch will suffer and sluggish take off mind you it will prbably pull 90kmh in first, no fun!! use the manual 3.07 diff and a early 260z camshaft , will produce excellent torque and economy not to mention reliability , cheers daniel. JP Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 I just used airroaddirect to get a 400kg diesel to canberra from Bundaberg. How did you load it up? Did you deliver to the depot or did they pick up? Who was responsible for fastening/packaging the motor for transport? I am doing a similar thing soon, I already have a pallet i had lying around, not sure about fastening. Quote
