Gee260 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Hi I'm currently rebuilding my door, hatch and bonnet hinges. The door hinges I'll be replacing the pins and bushes. I have everything down to bare steel and was wondering how other people have treated/finished them. I don't want to paint them as I don't want the build up around them and the paint wear epically on the bonnet hinges. I can anodise he door hinges if there is no better options but the bonnet and hatch hinges I wasn't goin to pull a Art as they are in good condition and don't think. Can anodizing with them together still. Ideas? Quote
Gee260 Posted February 17, 2014 Author Posted February 17, 2014 Can that be done with out dismantling? Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted February 17, 2014 Administrators Posted February 17, 2014 For the bonnet I would cadmium plate them like factory. For the doors I believe they were painted, but can't confirm 100%? I was contemplating getting a Cadmium plating kit to do several items on the Z, horns, bonnet latch, under bonnet inspection lamp, carb linkages etc..but I've no experience with a DIY kit. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted February 17, 2014 Administrators Posted February 17, 2014 This might be of interest. http://www.caswellplating.com/electroplating-anodizing/zinc-plating-kits.html Since old school cad plating is apparently quite toxic. Quote
Gee260 Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 YeA it's mainly the bonnet and hatch I'm stuck with. I don't have a rebuild kit or know if they are available and seeing they are in awesome condition I figured may as well leave them just need to dress them up and make them look pretty I'll sus that plating. As for the the doors I'll send them in when all my bolts get done so that's no issue i dont want the painted ha. cheers. Quote
