JP240z Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Well, Im finally adressing the final issue on my 240. The gearbox synchros arn't great going into second, and the clutch has started to slip. Im fixing it all properly before I seriously look at selling the car. But what I wondered was where I should go to get gearbox synchros, and how much i am looking at... Anyone know where I should go? Rod F Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 I think some people on this forum have used Stewart Wilkins Motorsport and Black Dragon Automotive in the States. Quote
C.A.R. Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 I got my synchros from Stew Wilkins when I rebuilt my box. He was about half the price of Gen. Nissan - & they were genuine Nissan synchro rings! Around the $150ea mark. http://www.swmotorsport.com/index.html?lang=en-us&target=d151.html I was quite pleased with the service too. Quote
JP240z Posted October 1, 2007 Author Posted October 1, 2007 Cheers, I'll give them a go. Trying to have the zed perfect for when I do pass it on to the next bloke... Nobody would happen to have a thickness or weight of a standard flywheel would they? I'm looking at getting mine machined, but dont know what has been done to it in the past.. Quote
dougybe Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Do you guys know of anyone in Brisbane who can do a 240 gearbox refurb? 2nd, 3rd and 4th crunching...Not good. Quote
260Coupe Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 As well as the synchro rings, don't forget coupling sleeves, these can be found for around $320, no point installing new synchro rings if your coupling sleeves are badly work (also - synchro rings can often be reversed to present a fresh surface to the coupling sleeve, this is fine for 4th and 5th). 2nd thru to 5th synchros are interchangable so best bet is to install new synchros in 2nd and 3rd and you may be able to swap 5th into fourth and vice versa (5th is usually subject to the least amount of wear) Also check for worn selector forks......and replace all bearings (needle rollers as well- complete bearing kits are around $270) If you need a local supplier in Melbourne...........
