DOOM Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 I have a 280ZX gearbox now, so I'm looking for a flywheel not sure if I need the 225mm or the 240mm. I'd be looking to get an Exedy clutch if that helps. Does anyone have a flywheel they want to part with? Quote
pauly_adams Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 you need to know what size you are going, stock for a 240-280zx is 225mm where as a mk-mq patrol run a 240mm which getting a clutch for is much easier and will hold a lot more power, finding one though is the hard part Quote

I have a C210 as you know with an L24 auto trans on it. I'll check the workshop manual but I don't it has sizes. Quote
d3c0y Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 They have the same OD so either will work, you just have to get a matching clutch. Some 2+2s have 240mm from what i've read. Quote
pauly_adams Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 no 2+2 in aus have 240mm only mk-mq patrols, you can also buy a light weight 240mm one from the states for around 300-$400 Quote
DOOM Posted September 25, 2013 Author Posted September 25, 2013 After some googling and research the 225mm seems to be the right way to go. So does anyone have a 225mm flywheel for sale? Quote
d3c0y Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Out of interest why did u end up on a 225 Quote
dat2kman Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Can also use a L20B four cylinder flywheel, same centre bolt pattern ( L18 four cylinders are not) The L20B flys use a 200 mm diam clutch/cover, Nissan sells these, at around 350kg clamp, but the Option part clutch unit clamps at 750 kg. Why 200mm? Less rotating mass inertia, and keeps big chunks of clutch cover a bit closer to the centreline. I get my 200mm covers, i use on the race cars, including the brilliant 280Z re-levered to give 1300 kgs of clamp.. Doom, i do have a few, but in Brisbane, so pistage will be a pain! Haunt a few wreckers, there could be a few there with boxes ripped out. A bolt into the block, a mate holding a big screwdriver, a breaker bar, and a bit of tube on end, and the fly bolts will ease right off,,,,,,,, hopefully! Quote
DOOM Posted September 27, 2013 Author Posted September 27, 2013 Thanks for the advice and help guys very much appericated. The reason for the 225mm choice I guess is just to get the bloody car on the road, I think we may have one loacated. When I build a more hotted up engine (I still have the single carb with 400,000Km on it) I'll get my hands on a 200mm flywheel. IT'S OK GOT ONE! Quote
