260Coupe Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Guys I was in Stuckey's today looking for a fresh set of rubber for both the track car (Roadster) and the road going Zed. I'd heard good reports on the new Direzza Z1's and Russell Stuckey reckons they are only 1 sec off the pace from their latest R spec track tyre the DZ03G. The Z1 is placed as gap filler between a full blown R spec tyre (soft compound and 5mm tread depth) and a road tyre with harder compound and 8mm tread. Anyway- to be only a second off the pace seemed a big call ..............Any let me know if anyone has tried these cheers http://www.dunloptires.com/en-US/tires/direzza-z1-starspec-tires Quote
PZG302 Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 A few of the guys on the MX5 forums are using these and rating them pretty highly. Weight is only a 100kg or so different for road cars so should be a good thing on a Zed. Quote
Tonyger Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 I was told the Z2 was even better so try the latest version would be best? Rather than buy the old version? Quote
jamo240 Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Hey fellas....I have got the direzza Z1's on my 240Z. They are absolutely fantastic! I replaced the Yokohama AO32R's with the Dunlop's, and they are chalk and cheese. The Dunlops are far less darty on the road (much better lateral stability), and much better when cold....the Yokie's only worked any good when they were hot, which was hardly ever on the road. I am sure the Z2's are good too, but I am very happy with the Z1's. Put em on, you won't regret it! Jamo Quote
MaygZ Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 How do they compare price wise? 255/40/17?? 235/40/17?? Quote
George Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 I had Z1's on my MX-5 after RE001's and I'd rate the Z1's higher. Wouldn't hesitate to use them again. Quote
jamo240 Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 I fitted 235/40R17 Z1's on the 240, and the were $300 each fitted at Stuckeys. A very reasonable price for such a good tyre that is not available at normal Dunlop retailers. Cheers Jamo Quote
