Ledge Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Does this happen every year or is this a once in a lifetime chance ? Quote
PZG302 Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 For the moment, pretty much each year depending on who the Council gives the contract to. Prodsports should be running their one hour there as well, but I won't be there until 2016 at the earliest when I will have a full comp licence again. Quote
dat2kman Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Richard, save yourself a few dollars, no need to be there extra early on the Thursday morning, stay in Orange on Wed night, and Sunday night, they want you on Thurs for document check and scrutineering, that'll take all day! Go down the Newall via Dubbo, then to Orange etc, dont even think about going via Sofala/Mdgee, prick of a road to tow. What ever diff ratio you run at Lakeside, will be wrong for Bathurst. Quote
260DET Posted September 1, 2013 Author Posted September 1, 2013 Interesting tips Jason, luckily I got a good deal in Bathurst so staying there makes sense. New England highway is crap, is that you are saying? I may go down via the Pacific, the Newell was a constant up and down rock 'n roll drive at Easter, hardly any cars on it but trucks one after the other. Quote
PZG302 Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 To get to Bathurst don't worry about the coast road, getting over the mountains to Bathurst is a bastard pretty much anywhere. The Newell is the best way to go. If it was a trip to the island, then I would go pacific hey and Hume. Quote

As above, easiest, and most boring, will be Newall. Out to Goondi, down to Dubbo, turn left, then onto Bathurst. Plan on two days, look for a midpoint to o/night at. Forget the New England, too many hills, and too much single lane. The coast run is now very good, Kempsey and Buladelah are bypassed, apart from a bit of roadworks north of Coffs, it is quite good. The missus and I went down/back couple weeks back, ski trip. You'd go through Pennant Hills Rd, to M2/M7, get off at Eastern Ck for run up over Blue Mtns, other side is all ok. Take your Brisbane E-Tag, it works on M2/M7. Again, plan on two days. Quote
