HKSZ Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Bought this L24 off ebay untested a few years back. told it came out of a skyline rally car and went really hard (like every 2nd motor does!) I only bought because I stagged it cheap and figured I could atleast use the 133 rods and SU's Observed it had 2'' british SU's a big 2 1/2 exhaust, took the cover off the cam has a purple mark and on the back it's stamped 212 721 and crow. think the towers are shimmed and maybe the springs too. Hard to tell maybe the pistons are domed. Does it look like the head has been worked? small E88 head ports are 34.8 28.2 Quote
HKSZ Posted June 28, 2013 Author Posted June 28, 2013 Its front sumped but has front and rear dipstick holders in place making me think this was a 240z motor originally Quote
pauly_adams Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 the head looks stock port wise, the cam is not a regrind but a billet one, who ever had the engine it has very little use or was exceptionally maintained as the head is spotless. how cheap did you get it for because that cam is worth over $250 Quote
HKSZ Posted June 28, 2013 Author Posted June 28, 2013 some times you can have a win on ebay $151. Yeah it's bloody clean compared to the head sitting next to it. Going off the Crow website 58 721 is medium street $405 IN open 39 IN close 73 Valve lift 0.495 EX open 75 EX close 37 Valve lift 0.495 IN duration 225 @ 0.050 Advertised 292 Ex duration 225 @ 0.050 Advertised 292 I'd love to know where it sits to say a works cam 74 76? Scoota G Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Can you get a better picture of an exhaust port? Quote
dat2kman Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 That's Crow's version of a 72 degree, Mated to that L24, with what looks to have been done to pirts, the 2" SU's and a fairly open exhaust, it should be quite a cracker of a motor. Leave it alone, stick it in and see what it's like. If its a stockish bottom end, short L24 stroke with the 133's it'd be good for 7500 rpm. Be nice to know whats in the bottom end, and to see the comb chambers/valve sizes. Before you pull head off, fit a degree wheel to front pulley, a stable pointer, astablish true top dead centre, use a dial indicator and see what the actual cam opening/clsing is at 50 thou lifts at valve on dial indicator. That way you know what its set at, and can go back to it. Quote
HKSZ Posted June 29, 2013 Author Posted June 29, 2013 I am tempted to change the sump and put it in the rally car now, current motor is standard l28 f54 p90a with triple 40's and I've been collecting data on the G-tech Quote
