Hi All,

I'm looking for the steering column stalk assembly for the Lights (LHS) and the high beam , low beam, indicator (RHS) for a 73 240z. Both of these are playing up on my car and would love to hear from anyone with these as spares?

The stalks are known to wear out unfortunately, lots of cars would have replacements by now. So they are not that easy to find. My car is a 260 so different to yours, & I have a spare set stashed away, I'm sure other prudent owners do the same.

Try giving your own ones a careful detailed clean to remove contaminants from the metal contacts. But you may find that the metal contacts have worn away. I've also seen cases where the solder attaching the wires has failed so that can be repaired with care with respect to heat.

If no-one here can help then try your luck with US suppliers, the US is where the greatest number of Zeds were sold.

Hi Mate,

That is true of my ones. I have taken the indicator, high low beam one apart and cleaned it up and re-soldered a couple of the joints - still playing up.... Any indication of which USA site? Need these asap as these are the only thing holding me back from getting the car road-worthy'd (cant switch between high and low beam.

There are a few suppliers, use google, some stock more than others.

In the past I've used a company now called thezstore.com and been very happy with their service, back then they had a lot of NOS Nissan parts for Zeds.

They have an on-line catalogue but I don't know offhand what they stock for switchgear.

Failing buying new then try eBay.com for suppliers parting out Zeds, & ask if they have what you need. If you buy second-hand then I'd get a spare set while you're at it, you can always on-sell if never needed down the track should you get out of Zeds again.

US ones are pretty usless; functions are opposite unless you like the headlights on the right and indicators on the left.. If you can get good switch mechanisms and swap them with yours?

The headlight dimmer is a 'pull-down' arrangement. It either provides an earth to the high beam or low beam filament. If you get stuck for making the original work, you could always put in a separate 'change-over' style switch on the dashboard.

Oh yeah, of course, duh, I forgot, Zedman240 is right, the switchgear is indeed reversed for the LHD market.

Well, it's an option anyway. I'm used to LHD with indicator on the left (Mustangs) so personally it wouldn't bother me. Or maybe they could be flipped & just have the lighs switch turn to on downwards instead of rotating upwards? Dunno.

Whatever it takes to keep these cars on the road.
