I would have thought, no way!

But according to Vicroads;

Application Required

From 6 July 2009, drivers issued with a probationary licence on or after 1 July 2007 may drive some lower performance turbocharged or supercharged vehicles. The definition of a lower performance turbocharged or supercharged vehicle is a vehicle with 6 cylinders or less that is:

    turbocharged or supercharged with a power to weight ratio of less than 100kW per tonne

Now i know you would have to apply... but damn, that wouldn't be bad for a P-plater considering that;

1,356 kg (2,989 lb) 2+2

(134 kW; 182 PS)) at 5,600 rpm and 203 ft•lbs (275n•m) of torque at 2,800 rpm

Another consideration... was the 280zx turbo brought out here? :P

It has to be a factory turbo model and 100% stock to be given an exemption, which would make it a LHD American import, so not allowed.

Also even if it meets the criteria you would most likely find that they will still say no because it's a sports car.
