Just a general query - does anyone know (or has tried to use) the rare spares floor panels in a 2+2

Need to replace the floor panels upto the front seat rail and was hoping these would fit

Also - I know the rare spares chassis rails are shorter than a 2+2, so is it worth buying and lengthening them or fabricating from new

Thanks

hmmmm - I have a 77, so this might not work

What are the alternatives? - has anybody else tried doing with the earlier floor pans??

The floorpan may be ok to use but the chassis rail has a unique profile and is different on both sides of the vehicle. If the sides are the rail are ok you can section out the bottom and hand build rails. Took a while for me to do this on my 2+2 and i ran the rail right to the rear chassis. I have pictures of what i did on facebook.

Thanks Scoota

Couldn't see the pictures of the frame rails on your Facebook page, but understand the issue with the difference in floors better now

I noted that you can get bad dog rails from the US that are profiled as well for a 280z that might work

I'll replace the floors first with the rear spares panels and see how we go from there

Sorry Kerry it's on my Business Page.

Here's the link to my build page below. I do this so people can like my pages and keep my business and personal pages seperate.

Thanks Nat0

The car is in the panelshop getting a final touch up and paint, so can't grab a pic at the moment

Really though, It's just the front floors and the associated chassis rails

We've ordered some rare spares replacement floors - which hopefully we can get to fit, the interesting part will be the chassis rails

If we get those rarespares floors to work - i'll come back to you on the wrecked 2+2 option

cheers

ok - Rarespares have just informed me that they have no floor pans available - and would need a minimum order of 6 to produce some

Nat0 - what condition are the floor pans and rails in off your wrecked 2+2?

Anybody else have any ideas?

Does anyone have a picture of what the 77 2+2 floor pan is meant to look like stock?

Mine is pretty banged up, I need to know the shape so I can panel beat it back.

Are the chassis rails on the 2+2 different lengths? My drivers side is about a foot longer than passenger side.

I may be able to save my floors - but to be honest there covered in so much rubber sealant to try and keep out the rust, its difficult to know how bad they are

I've also ordered some rails from the US (Baddog) - will see how they fit, but I might be interested in your floors as backup if mine are too far gone

cheers

yes - have followed this thread with interest, but the floor rails detailed in the thread are for the earlier model 260z/240z floors aren't they?

Am I missing something??

Hi,

see pics as promised.

looks like they are longer than i had thought,

cut behind the rear seat mount.

probably pretty good for what your after.

note the LH floor rail is cut at the front, where the engine rail meets down on the floor rail.

i have a dodgy underside pic, below but its about 200-300mm behind the firewall

the floors are not to bad, except the gearbox mount brace has also been cut out.

let me know what you think.

sorry i wasnt in my workshop clothes, so i didnt get inspired too flip it over for you :)

Thanks nato, that's exactly what I was after.

Interesting that the drivers side chassis rail bulges the floor. But the passenger side doesn't?
