Accommodation near Wakefield Park

Hi Guys, A mate and I are heading to Wakefield Park this Satdy for a V8 drive day.

I don't know the area at all, Any idea of a good pub to stay at nearby?

I have never actually stayed near Wakefield (Canberra is only 1 hour from Wakefield Park), but I would have thought any reasonable hotel in the middle of Goulburn (5-10 minutes from Wakefield Park) would be fine...  That way even if you don't like the beer at that pub it should only be stumbling distance to a few others.

I usually stay at either the Astor or the Alpine Heritage.

 

Astor is nicer, has a restuarant and pub, is a little more expensive and has limited trailer parking.

 

Alpine Heritage is cheap, pretty basic, no food, no pub, easy walking distance (a block or so) to the main drag and places to eat / drink,  clean enough and has a massive car park.

 

I've never had a problem with either.

 

Mike's Manor used to be the place to go, but its closed down.

Awesome guys, I wasn't sure if Goulburn was the place to stay or there was somewhere else that was the go.

Goulburn is the place to stay unless you want to do the 1 hour drive Canberra where the accommodation won't be any better (unless you want 5 star)

You're pretty much limited to staying in Goulburn, the only thing nearer to the track is a farm-stay place and the cabins at the track itself. Trouble is, there's nothing else out that way (ie nowhere to get food and drink) so you would end up driving back into Goulburn anyway for supplies. Its only around a 5 minute drive out from the centre of town to the track.
