I'm guessing your S30z is a 73 model? Looks like that support is toasted.

plated 71

as far as i know, there are 3 types - the 240, 260 ( just deeper front rail) and late260/80  with the deeper rail and different cutouts since the airhoses didn't run from the panel anymore

also contains a clue to the debate about the black paint - looks like the frotn was painted black at the factory,

Weird, that rad support has the hump at the top where the bonnet shuts. Which usually has a rubber seal across it. My 70 and 72 don't have this piece, but my 73 240z did.

I don't have better photos at this stage but here is my 72.

Here is my old 2+2 (260z) which was 75 year. This is after it was bent but you can see the top of the radiator support has a rubber seal.

This was obviously added to help aid with cooling and create a high pressure area in front of the radiator and low pressure on the other side to get air moving through it.

So if your car was plated as a 71 I'd be suspect that it hasn't already had a new rad support at some point in it's life.

With regard to the front radiator support and black paint from factory. Yes they did, but only the bottom half.

Post #10 here is the best example.
