68GTCS Posted March 4, 2010 Author Posted March 4, 2010 I'd say Zac is certainly a "renowned Z restorer". However, I haven't spoken to him in a while and he doesn't know I'm selling this car... yet. Quote
68GTCS Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen, Just a quick update. Lots of interest but keep forgetting to ask where they've seen the car advertised. Put a window sticker in it but doubt anyone's seen that yet. I'll be sure to ask and therefore give credit to the forum if it is the source of some enquiries. With carsales.com.au at $50 it is only fair. I have been told that the retrim on the driver's seat looks bad... is that true? I was told that these are original seats and have passed that on but thought I should check with our infinite repositry of knowledge here. Thanks again, Scott PS - one enquiry was from Bowral - it was all I could do to not offer to bring it to him for a look - via jambaroo and kangaroo valley finishing with a blast up the sheepwash - "I'll be right there in four hours!". Suppose the glowing brakes, heat soaked cabin and an empty tank probably wouldn't help the sale though. Quote
Hammer Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I'd say Zac is certainly a "renowned Z restorer". However, I haven't spoken to him in a while and he doesn't know I'm selling this car... yet. So what that a yes or no? Quote
68GTCS Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 I'm sure you guessed it was a yes - this was Zac's 'keeper'. Spoke to him today and he doesn't mind everyone knowing it was his #1. He might even take a look at it tomorrow. Wishful thinking but I could get sentimental about giving it back to him! STATUS OF THE SALE - few lookers, few low-ballers, no buyers, but no worries either! My buddy Peter tidied up a few of his old bikes and reckons he's got room for another car on the farm in Box Hill so that's the last of the four cars okay for storage. Still need the money, but not a big deal. Someone rang on the weekend to ask me to show it to them near work on lunch one day this week - haven't heard back from them but loving the good excuse to drive! Looking forward to seeing how the zed at Shannon's Melbourne sale goes too. Anyone checked it out lately? Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted March 11, 2010 Moderators Posted March 11, 2010 I'll be going there early on the 15th to have a good peek. I'm curious how it will go.. Quote
Timwell Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 The shannons "mustard" Z sold for $17,500. It wasn't in great condidtion and definatly required a respray as I would't be seen driving around in that thing. The word concourse it thrown around far to much these days. This was definatly not concourse condition. Just looked like an average used car with no resto work done on it.... So for those with Zeds (240z only) its good news as they are worth a bit..... Those looking (for 240z)....unlucky I suppose. Good luck with your sale. Quote
68GTCS Posted March 16, 2010 Author Posted March 16, 2010 Thanks for the update Timwell, just checked the auction results too and was feeling a bit bummed after hearing that the car was in glorious, original, basically perfect low ks condition... Your estimate of it was rather different. It is annoying how often the word concourse is used when stuff is barely average. To clarify, my 240 is brilliant mechanically and the body was done to a very high quality but it is no trailer queen, used often and for long distances and therefore far from concourse condition. If you wouldn't be seen in that I have to see your Zed. Quote
Timwell Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 You are quite right it is a good "original" but that's it....its a good original. I.e: no resto work done on it at all!! Like I said, It'll need a respray to up the value....I promise you, if it where white, silver, red or heaven forbid yellow with a black bonnet then It would have easily sold for 20K plus. Yeah it's original but its not great by any means........which was my original point. If this got 17k then the the one on this post is defiantly worth more. Take a look at the engine bay just near the battery...its got cancer showing...this is coming through from the wiper motor area....if this is coming through you can imagine the rest of the car! Look at the dizzy....its corroded.....this thing looks like it's sat in a shed for at least 5 years.... So my point...original yes.....very original its even got its original rust. Quote
Mr Camouflage Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 What chassis number is this car? Cant quite make it out in the photos. Quote
68GTCS Posted March 18, 2010 Author Posted March 18, 2010 from memory it is number 1316. What difference does it make? Quote
68GTCS Posted March 22, 2010 Author Posted March 22, 2010 Time is running out and I'm still able to bear the thought of parting company so the price is down to $25,000.00 still negotiable. Have a storage option but they're getting impatient to know if it is required. Quote
