Hi Guys, apologies for the late reply. Managed to get the fuel pressure gauge hooked up this arvo. Intially it reads 1.5 psi at idling. However, it drops to 1 whenever I gave it a rev. I discovered puddle of fuel sitting on top of one of the reservoir. Symptom persist after fuel line to reservoir was replaced suspect hairline crack due to ageing. The rubber seal does appear to be squeezed by comparing to the other one. I'm tempted to replace the seal but before I go down that path, I though I would like to gather more info from here. Cheers.

Hey mate, just dropped you an email cheers.

Yeah, since the stock mechanical pump been replaced by electric pump, May be need a fuel regulator at the return.. cheers
-
The pump had only 1500km on the clock according to the previous owner, I guess carbies & fuel tank works decision be made once I get the pressure reading prior. considering it's a heck of a job . Many thanks PB260Z..

Goodman, will post the pressure reading once available. Cheers 1600Dave.

HI Gents, I'm after the mounting plate for choke. Since I inherited the car, it already had a cracked center console next to the choke slot as a result from mounting a metal plate on top console to hold the choke cables pressure. I'm aware eBay does sell them but I thought throw this one out here if someone has a spare for sale or template to copy. Thanks in advance.

G'day Gents, Recently took the old girl for a spin after few months in storage. Seems the carbies start to starve for fuel whenever on slopes ( some time could hear carbies popping ) However, It runs like a dream on flats.. These are the fuel set up from the previous owner : Essentially the mechanical fuel pump was replaced with in line electric pump. Both Fuel filter before fuel pump fitted top outside of fuel tank. There is no fuel line reducer on the returning fuel line. Old Fuel filter had deposit & was replaced with new one. Question : 1) Does the carbies floats need a retune? 2) Both fuel filter & pump should be fitted at lower part of tank.? 3) Does fuel tank could use a good clean.? Your advise are much appreciated. Thanks

Oil Pressure Gauge Reading Question
the red zed replied to the red zed's topic in Electrical systems
I agree as it's the easiest & quickest way of troubleshooting for a start. It seemed gauge level read just about the same regardless hot or cold conditions. To be honest I have nil clue of the existing oil viscosity as it already had it in by previous owner but it certainly could use a change now. Cheers -
Oil Pressure Gauge Reading Question
the red zed replied to the red zed's topic in Electrical systems
Hi Agno, many thanks for the info & good to know it's pretty normal at such. The dipstick seemed showing good oil level. I might do an oil change soon with slightly thicker oil like 20-50w to see any improvement. -
Oil Pressure Gauge Reading Question
the red zed replied to the red zed's topic in Electrical systems
It rises up to about 1/3 when sits around 3.5K. I might have a pressure switch out of toyota 18rg that I could possibly stick in to test. Cheers Linton. -
Hi Gents, It came to my attention the oil pressure gauge sits below 1/4 while idling at 1000rpm. Is this pretty normal for L motor or is time to replace the oil pressure sender? Some engine builder did mentioned L motor are prone to loose internal oil pressure.. Cheers

It came installed in the car but I do have the original steering wheel without the horn pad as part of the deal. Anyone have a spare horn pad for sale? Thanks gents
-
Thank you so much gents, might give Shannons a go next year
-
Hi gents, Can someone please identify this steering wheel.? Some said it came from Datsun 240K. If it is.. how rare is this as compare to 240z original which got " Datsun" or "Z" on the horn pad. Cheers
-
I've sent them pics of the car & that's what they came back to me..it could be well got to do with the resolution as I sent with large instead of actual size through me mobile..

Finally managed to get the old girl insured at 45K with NRMA VVC - Veteran Vintage Classic for $500. Basically after few photos & touch base on the current local & international market price ball park with the underwriter, It's half a job & finally It was a done deal!! On the other hand I was disappointed with Shannons that only willing to cover for 30K max even though they are my first choice.. NRMA offers same if not better deal than Shanns

So many helpful info here. Thanks heaps guys...

Hi Gents, As I'm toying the thought to get my 72' 240z auto insured with Shannon's before going to storage. Can anyone please let me know the ball park current market value. It's not a show car but it's in pretty clean, straight, rust free & mechanically sound condition. Just try to avoid premium overpay & undervalued at the same time. Or any other insurance company that you would recommend. Thanks
