  1. Well for some reason I'm unable to upload any photos, they are all under the limits and it comes up with the error "Your attachment couldn't be saved. This might happen because it took too long to upload or the file is bigger than the server will allow. Please consult your server administrator for more information." Any ideas Gav?
  2. So everything is more or less back together which is a relief as I was starting to feel that I had removed too much from the car at one time (I'm terrible with misplacing screws etc) Yesterday I fully drained the fuel tank which had a mixture of 5 year old fuel and new fuel from the previous owner and filled her up with 98 octane plus a led fuel additive and wow. I must say it has made a huge difference. Me and dad took the car out for a drive this morning around some back roads in the Seville area. The car was running beautifully after about 5 minuets of open road. There were a few things I took away from the sneaky run and those are: The steering wheel gets a decent shake at around 80km/h (I assume it is either a wheel balancing issue or the fact that the rubber bushings on the suspension components and steering are really quite worn and decaying) and that the rear brakes need further adjustment although I think I will be purchasing new drums next week some time. I have fixed the inspection light and it is now ready for my late night engine bay tampering. I have also repaired both windscreen wipers and replaced the washer pump with one from an auto parts shop $13 what a deal! The part number for that pump is: NWP500 and it was from Bursons Auto Parts (it doesn't fit perfectly but it is good enough) Anyways, here are some photos! (Anyone know what those fuse like wires are in the plastic containers (last image) There are many more photos in my google drive album, I find it much easier to upload them there. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-7sJCmAZ6Kafndvd1NHN1B6QnUxaTRQaEUwU0RWOGVyTXo2cWh6bldEaGdoWmw5QzNKNlU One last thing. I have made a soundtrack for this car including all the hits found on disks that were discovered earlier. If anyone is interested and can be bothered downloading here is the link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-7sJCmAZ6KaNDNCWjhFd2tQeDA
  3. I would be interested in the metal one, how much are you looking for it. Also thanks for looking out for me Gav!
  4. So I have gone back to school :'( and obviously the time that I have to spend on the car has been limited. I have however done a few things. I removed most of the sound deadner in the floor pan and there is a bit more rust then I thought at first but manageable. I have re-wired the inspection lamp due to the switch being broken and the lack of sunlight when I get home from school. I also bought some badges they aren't in the best shape so I'm thinking of cleaning the up and sending them off to get re-chromed however the pins are broken off the back of them so I'm not sure if its worth it. I fixed the windscreen wipers and I'm going to an auto-parts store to see if I can get a cheeper alternative to the washer pump from jdm parts, 60$ including postage I also took off the drivers side fender and found the source of all my rust issues!!! (I think) The drainage pipes that run behind the fenders were both blocked with leaves and other things..... Moustache clippings I believe... anyway, the rust in the firewall is caused by that area filling up with water. I've started looking around for a new windshield, changed the fuel filter (thing was filthy) and I'm currently looking to buy some new drums (any suggestions) I also bought some corner window trim so that should arrive soon. I also fixed one of the headlights that was stuffed due to both a blown globe that was 150w and some really sketchy wiring which I sorted out with some new wire, heatshrink and a soldering iron. The thing that I'm most worried about is that the frame rales under the car are fairly dinged up from scraping, they aren't too bad but I'm a bit worried about them passing RW. I'm still struggling with my useless fabrication skills to make a bracket for the choke so I can get the centre console back in.
  5. So the last few days not much has happened due to the weather however I have checked out the rear brakes again, and the shoes have plenty of meat left on them also, for some reason they were both set way too tight and both of them would prevent the car from getting moving in many circumstances. I loosened them off roughly with the little adjustment wheel but I was wondering if they need to be properly adjusted or will they adjust themselves. I've looked around but I can't find a defiant answer if they do or not. The centre console has been removed for repair (when I have some time) it is cracked around the choke leaver and I think I will make up a little bracket to bolt it to the frame otherwise the repair won't last. Planning to bleed the brakes tomorrow, rewire the fans, get a new front lightbulb and hopefully get these rear drums set up properly.
  6. I've pulled back a bit of the sound deadener and so far I think I will just cut it out and weld in a new piece but I still have to get the rest of the deadener. I also removed the rear drums and one of them is ever so slightly cracked, it is not on the part where the shoe contacts the drum however I still think I will replace both of them. They have fins which I assume means they are still the original ones? I am quite surprised at how good condition this car is in. I thought there would be allot more to deal with. I hope I haven't spoken too soon. Also the windshield has a bullseye chip in it, I'm not sure wether it can be repaired or if the windshield has to be replaced so I'm keeping my eye out for a new one. I also painted the rear light housing back a saturn black and I think it looks fantastic, amazing what 30 minuets and a aerosol can can do More photos will come tomorrow as I finally fixed my phone and it is able to take photos without dying on me!!! <3 I would like to thank everyone for all the help so far. This community is amazing and it is so so great to know that there is many people with much more knowledge that they are willing to share.
  7. Hi, I was wondering how much you were after for it?
  8. Thats what I'm going for, roadworthy in Vic. I thought about getting the whole engine bay painted however it was painted 8-10 years ago and it seems to be in good condition everywhere but those rust spots in the firewall
  9. Ok, I'll rip up the sound deadener tomorrow and see what comes of it. Also, any suggestions on getting a windscreen washer pump. I will trade bobby pins and a cd featuring captain planet.
  10. I believe the car was the 304 gold metallic as that is what is under it and in other areas such as behind carpet etc. Also, I was wondering if this floor pan from rare spares would be ok for the 2+2, it states that it will not be suitable but I thought they would be ok may require a bit of welding and fab but where would the fun be if it was just drop in, weld and go haha
  11. The wiring is on my list for tomorrow haha
  12. So I have come across a few more issues whilst changing oil, fixing little things. The main issue is that there is a fair bit of rust under the front cover (under the wipers) it's not too bad but there are a few holes. The next issue is that the car has some (presumably) aftermarket electric fans which aren't functioning. I believe that it is a connection issue as all of the spade connectors are pretty corroded. Other then that, I lifted allot of the carpet out and there isn't much more rust then I was expecting which is good! https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-7sJCmAZ6Kafndvd1NHN1B6QnUxaTRQaEUwU0RWOGVyTXo2cWh6bldEaGdoWmw5QzNKNlU Here are all of the photos of the problem areas.
  13. No, that spoiler is defiantly not going to make it's way back onto this car. Might see if I can find a civic to stick it to
  14. The aftermarket head-unit still had a CD in it..... Contains so much terrible music but also the first track is Captain Planet which is a little odd Also, the fuel pump makes a reasonably loud clicking noise when running. I assume this is normal?
  15. Finally got her home! Has this really weird supra style spoiler Things not working so far: Clock (what was anyone expecting) Interior light (Bulb blown) Left front headlight high beam (Globe) Key cylinder (Won't allow it to run the starter but has a funky push button start) Everything seems to be in fairly good shape! Other then rust: Firewall (Complete hole through firewall behind battery apparently the pre-pre owner dropped the battery and spilt acid on that spot) Drivers floor-pan (been repaired and painted over but still) Body has a few bubbles but nothing too serious. We will wait and see what surprises pop up along the way Photos are going to be going up here: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B-7sJCmAZ6Kafndvd1NHN1B6QnUxaTRQaEUwU0RWOGVyTXo2cWh6bldEaGdoWmw5QzNKNlU&usp=sharing
  16. Picking her up tomorrow, here is a photo of a filthy spark-plug and you can see the colour better in the back. Also is the #362 a paint code or something else haha (don't mind my noobish questions I'm here to learn https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-7sJCmAZ6KaejViMXpUTktlUUk/view?usp=sharing
  17. That's fine, thanks for the offer though. I think there is a member here in the Lilydale area as I spoke to him about a year ago. Owns a red 260z 2+2 that is often parked at Lilydale station with the plate starting with IRI. Where are you located as I am picking it up in Philip Island (Beware of the salt air ) and I could maybe drop by if it is on the way.
  18. Haha I will defiantly have to do a full archeological dig under seats and the like. When I checked over the car the rear diff was leaking oil, I'm assuming its just the gasket as it looked pretty munted. I was wondering if this or something similar would be suitable. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Datsun-240Z-260Z-280Z-1970-78-R180-Rear-Diff-Cover-Gasket-Differential-OEM-NEW-/331598361295?hash=item4d34cd72cf
  19. PB I'll definitely look into getting it checked out, also the car has been resprayed as it was a dark blue (I believe). Thanks all for your awesomeness, I will pick it up on either Wednesday or Thursday so more photos then!
  20. Hello All, I have been lurking around these forums for a while now and dreaming of owning a classic z for quite a few years. Anyway I will cut to the chase, I'm 17 and I have just sealed the deal (putting a deposit down tonight ) for my very first car which is a questionably purple 260z 2+2 It is currently unregistered and a fair way off being roadworthy. I have fairly basic mechanical know-how however I have a few connections. I currently have no other plans other then to get this beauty on the road. It is defiantly a project and there is most certainly allot more then meets the eye with this car especially as these photos were taken around 2010. Anyways, there will be more when I get her home Also, I understand that the paint is disgusting and who knows what was going through the pre-pre owner's head haha
  21. I hope the new owner is around here, I would love to see what happens to it. I would have loved to purchase it but I was just a bit low on funds. Congratulations on the sale though
