  1. I was talking to a guy who does restos and I was talking to him about warpage when mig welding. He has an air gun in the other hand when he does a spot and immediately cools it. I have tried it and can testify that it does work.
  2. A piece of roof Scoota? That's a novel idea. Unfortunately I don't have a spare roof lying about! I am in the process of making a 'forming jig' to make the panel pieces myself. I will post a photo when I finish the jig. I will only post a photo of the finished piece if it looks good!!
  3. Not much left on the lower left quarter after all the rusted metal has been cut out!
  4. The only major rust forward of the doors is the air intake. It will have to be cut out and rebuilt. I priced a pair of rear lower quarter repair panels from ZCarSource fro $60 each but they wanted $221 to post them...no thanks! So it looks like I will have to make them myself.
  5. Hi Guys Won this on EBay but had to go from Melbourne to near Port Maquarie to get it. It has been stripped down completely 10 years ago but reassembled temporarely as a rolling chassis It looked OK especially as the floor has no rust other than surface rust but after removing all the bog from the rear.... well you can see by the photos!
  6. Just did a quick trip up tp northern NSW and picked up the 260Z 2+2. 14 hr run back to Melbourne. Thought my bladder might burst (did stop at Yass for dinner though!) Home at 2:30 AM The car itself has had the running gear partly installed so it could be rolled onto a trailer. All the rest of the parts have been put higgle dee piggle dee in boxes, as in brake parts with interior parts etc. and hardly anything has been tagged. No rust in the floor. The whole floor still has all the sound deadening in place. I will post some photos soon
  7. I was looking at the damaged rear 260z coupe at Sportsclasic cars (drivers side rear quarter is concertinaed) and wondering if the 2+2 and the coupe are the same from the centre of the rear wheel arch back. I could cut the rear corner from the 2+2 and graft it into the coupe Then I thought it may be a good idea to look on the forum (der). Looks like I forget that idea!
  8. Don't know how but looking at my emails this morning I actually won the bid! I now own a 260z 2+2!! (in bits) Now I have to hire a trailer and drive 2 days up and 2 days back to get it!
  9. just bid on a 260z 2x2 on ebay at Telegraph Point, but 'missed by that much' dang darn it!
  10. There is also a JayDee in Bayswater Melbourne
  11. Thanks Simon. Yes I am very impulsive. I will try hard to control myself!!!! Peter
  12. Hi, My name is Peter I live in Doveton, Melbourne and 55 years old. I have just competed a 4 car garage and it's about time I started doing what I have wanted for a long time! Which is of course to start a resto on a 260/280Z 2 seater. Not too hot on 2 x 2's. So if anyone has a spare one hanging around? Don't mind if it's in bits as long as most of it is there. Don't need a motor...I have a 280ZX series 2 turbo motor that was built to race on gas. I also have a sequencial gas injection kit for it but I don't know if I like the idea of a gas tank behind the seats! Anyway hope to meet some of you guys so I can druel over your Zeds.
