  1. I just read the thread, fantastic work mate! that is a beautiful machine youve made there.
  2. Wrecking a 280zx? let me know if you have the above. cheers
  3. leave poor mister 308 alone, i think most of this country was conceived within a few feet of one haha. I used castlemaine mounts, they didnt fit. I should have sent them back back but i didn't, however, all i needed to do was weld another flange to them as the engine sat to far back hitting the fire wall. They were heaps expensive 400 and something dollaridoos. It was an expensive route to take in the end but it worked. If your handy with a welder and are willing to fiddle around try making them yourself. I can help out with the dimensions. The gearbox i used was the det box, it fit fine but i needed to fiddle around with the mountings i think just swapping them over from r32 to 280(auto) something simple. There is a z wrecker in adelaide (adelaide z cars) i spoke to one of them after i had done it as they had a 260 that they were dropping a rb25det into, bloke told me they bought 200zr sump, pick up and mounts from japan for 500 clams. he seemed pretty impressed with the price for some reason.
  4. lonsdale engine works, formerly lonsdale cylender heads, had 308 heads done there and an l20 head. did a great job.
  5. i put a rb 20 det in my 280 a few years ago, i got a patrol sump and cut that deep section of the sump square off and just welded steel plate over the missing section and modified the pick up, worked a treat and no leaks. Rb is out now with l28 back in, so I could be persuaded to sell it or swap for 280/holden 5ltr parts i need
  6. Yeah i am chasing a fault, i rebuilt an enigine that had sat for years. and removed the some of the pollution stuff like egr and BCCD (i think thats what its called) i fitted an rb30 throttle body aswell. With the temp sensor, there is three from memory. One for the cold temperature fast idle anothe for a gauge and the other for the ecu. The engine seems to be overfueling, plugs carbon up bad quickly but i havnt run it up to temperature much. Im thinking the AFM is a bit dodgy, ive read that this type of afm can develop worn spots giving ecu bad signal i tested it for resistance (found two pins that changed with flap movement) and observed the resistance to rise and fall. Im not sure but i would have thought it should give a linear change of resistance. It has been getting a little better with injector cleaner.
  7. hey all, does anyone know if the l28 injection system should run well with only the AFM, coolant temperature sensor (ECU), distributor signal and throttle position sensor? cheers fellas
  8. yeah bit to extreme for little ol me, pity though id like one of those r200s in there
  9. Any one know if the whole rear end (susp, diff ect) will slot into a 280zx? cheers
  10. Pm sent
  11. tempting, bit of a trek for a flywheel however. ill keep it in mind tho wrecker near me wanted my left arm for one.
  12. Need an l28 flywheel for my 280zx manual conversion. cheers
  13. that looks like fun, i like how they got the crank position sensor going. might consider having a crack at it later down the track.
  14. hmm thats interesting, vn 6cyl fuel injection? do you know much about the conversion?
  15. Do you know if a 280zx clutch disc n basket will fit a l20b flywheel? They're easy to find. Im thinking i might try and find a l24 skyline (r30) flywheel.
