I agree but as the aim is to drive and then store, a project car doesn't fit the bill. The orange one on gumtree? It's been snatched up.

Hi everyone, Like many others, I'm here putting the out the feelers, in the hope there may be a car out there. I'm chasing a 240z with a budget of 30K, with room to wiggle for the right car. Over the years I've been saving up and narrowing down my view on what I'm chasing. It has led to this moment, where I'm ready to lay down some coin and start this new adventure. Matching numbers would be amazing but do I realise that it is a tall order, considering my budget and the fact that I’m after a registered (or close to) example. As original as possible is the goal. The ultimate long term plan will be to bring the car back to its former glory, with a full nut and bolt restoration. And yes, I will continue keeping an eye out this forums 3rd party thread, along with other forums and the usual gumtree,carsales and ebay. I am also willing to travel. Cheers G. I've been meaning to drop by the monthly meeting with the local Datsun club, but my job hasn't left me in one town for more than a few weeks at a time lately. Completely agree Gav. Definitely better to start with a rust free car and spend time converting. Saying that, as much as I really want a 240z right now, I'm happy to wait for the right one. In the meantime I'll keep an eye out on the overseas market and if something comes up that's be hard to resist, then I'll definitely make the enquiries. Mate that's the worst luck with dodgy sellers. Those cars are good to keep an eye on but ultimately, I'd like a right hand drive. I've been watching the website, Bring a Trailer ,and there are some great cars on there for a good price. But left hand drive obviously. I'm thinking that buying overseas may be the next best thing. Say Japan or the UK. I've read up on RHD conversions and to be honest, they look an almost impossible task without blowing a budget. Do you know much about the market in Japan or the UK?

Hey everyone, I've been on this forum long enough to know this is a well asked question, but I'm just after a little direction. Over the last few years, I've seen prices rise for the 240z and since saved incredibly hard to have enough money to compete with the asking prices. So my question is, with a budget around $23,000, is it unrealistic to think I may find a stock 240z in drivable fair condition? Also, out of interest, how much would a matching numbers 240z be expected to go for? (registered). I understand this is something many people are looking for but thank you in advance for your suggestions.

I saw that one about 2 months ago while I checked out their white 240z. It's the same place that advertised the white 240z for $12000 or something like that. The thing had rust all through it, even some of it painted over. Very very dodgy work. Also the dealership is a b*tch to deal with. I spent over half an hour looking through the white 240z and the salesman never came out to help. When I found him, I asked if I could take it for a test drive and he that’s OK as long as I put down a non-refundable deposit for the car. The yellow one looked ok but the salesman wouldn't open it up for me so I can’t give you any help I'm sorry. But if you do go out to check it out, just be wary.
