Hi mate do you have the front struts with brakes? If so are the inserts, disks and pads ok? Would like postage to SA Nairne 5252, e-go.com.au has an estimator if you have time to size them up. Would probably save on postage if the springs are taken off (dont need them). Thank you Daniel

Just found out my car cover isn't as water proof as I thought. No rear hatch yet and rear windows so I'm probably lucky it's only got the back seat in it. Projects been placed on hold for a while so my ASAP track car might be As Soon As House Is Finished, haha

Thanks for the welcomes. Will try to update when I remember, never posted about builds too much because I've always felt it puts pressure/time frame on it and ends up failing. This time is a bit different because its budget and I want it asap in any condition. Hoping to have it track spec within 10weeks (kids/wife dont give you much free time). Wow, it is. Fixed the chassis and rust on it yet? Want to sell it back to me? Haha... no seriously I'd be sooo much happier with a two seater. Only doing 2+2 because its cheap and everything will bolt/weld into two seater later. Good to hear its still around, do you go to any events with the SA members? Cheers

Hi, It's probably about time I introduced myself, some people already know who I am from other forums or the small world that is SA. When I was 17 I owned a 1972 240z and I loved it, didn't drive it much as it was purchased defected due to rust and height. I wish I knew back then what I know now, would have been so easy and valuable to fix. I bought a R32 skyline from Japan as a daily driver with the plan that all the skyline parts would end up in the zed... this plan ended with me selling the zed to buy a 2-way diff and coil overs for the skyline. At the time all I had on my mind was the next drift practice at Mallala. Since then I've bought and sold property, got married, had two kids, had lots of high horsepower fun/pain and lots of missed events because I spent too much on things I didn't need. So after coming back to my home town from the Gold Coast to have our second baby girl I realised the skyline had gone backwards more than forwards and needed to go. I have now parted out the majority of the skyline and started a budget build 260z 2+2 "fun" track car. I've purchased a nice shell from an Adelaide member and lined up two donor parts cars from a friend of a friend. Also buying some secondhand coil overs with larger unknown brakes from a local member and Nissan Datsun Car Club mate. First up is to get rid of the remaining shell/parts of the skyline (keeping brakes for later modifications) so I can have space to work on the zed. Second step is to strip the remainder of the zed's interior, paint the interior and make up some wiring for lights, engine and any gauges I might use from the skyline. Third step will be tidying up the missing lights, some trims and windows using the donor car's parts. (The project car or 264z as I'm calling it already has a L28 and complete under body that appears to be running smoothly) From there it will be on the track as often as possible and if I can get it tidy enough between events I may try to register it for a lazy Sunday drive with... or maybe without the kids. Once I'm confident and having a good time with it I might keep the interest going by getting triples, a full cage, adjustable arms, bigger brakes and maybe a nice clean white in and out paint job. Big horse power can wait till last this time. Look forward to meeting some of you once I'm up and running. Cheers, Daniel

Hmm that's a good idea, make a new strut tube altogether.

Will be making sleeved coil overs if I can find nice inserts without busting budget, so as long as the clearance issue is with the massive stock spring seat and not the strut tube then should be all good.

Do you still have these? I'm all good with sectioning the strut tube but what do you mean by 4130? PM me thanks, Daniel

Not sure how long delivery will take for flares but a trial fit would make up my mind for me, just have to add three inches minus lip to body. Have you run 9.5's on the front or is it "too much"? Thanks mate, your a champ

Any updates on this? I'm probably never going to beat Ledge (Paul) at a hill climb so I might as well look killer instead. I have ZG flares on the way for my 260z build so I'm thinking 9.5's front and back (easy rotation if I'm running low on tread). Does anyone have pictures of said offset's with or without flares. The numbers dont sound quite right to me. Might help people to make a good decision as 8.5's would need a fair offset to sit nice with front guards. Any wheel can look good with the right offset, good wheels look insane with the right offset, hell even tri spokes can look good with offset... no wait... tri spokes... forget I said that.

Any chance of door cards delivery price to SA 5252?

Would it be easier to use a fairly bigger disk so that you only need to get a bracket made up to space the caliper past the edge of the 260 hub and to any offset desired? I have a R32 gts-t and I'm currently using a bracket as described to space the caliper out about 11mm from center with the same offset as stock to allow for R33 GTR disks. Ive almost finished parting out my R32 so I can build up a 260z 2+2 I just purchased. I'm thinking I should keep the brakes and was just told that I should also keep the rear shafts so I can convert to using the R32 handbrake. Has anyone got an example of a hub converting bracket to do this?

I'm new to site but would be sure this has been linked before. Still its a very different and awesome build. Carbon fiber body skin with an RB30de running tripples. Ive never seen an EFI head runing something like this but I imagine it would sound insane at high RPM.

Haha, it is small. All I've got now is a shell, some brakes, stock bits and body panels/doors. I might just take whats left to the wreckers as I've already got more from the parts than I expected, its amazing how the car without engine wouldn't sell for $4k but individual parts have made far more than that and I've still got more. I can see how wreckers make a profit, cars depreciate but the parts cost the same now as they did four years ago.

Fair sure I'll be giving it a nice new home just need to make sure I've got the space for it and a couple parts cars... Wife said "What! you want to buy three zed's now! I thought you wanted one zed!"

Not many problems at all. Made 465rwhp with ease on 16psi. The car had a few earthing issues and fuel delivery could have been better. But Darren at Lewis Performance Engines did amazing work on it and it was a dream to put your foot down. My main problem was buying tyres that could grip when boost came on, I just couldn't get wheels to stop spinning and I am now a bit over the whole turbo thing. I want to hear an engine roar not whistle. (also sold the engine to buy more land)

Haha, yeah I'd be very impressed if I got within 3 seconds of you with a non turbo but I'll give it a shot. Just sick of changing cars all the time because the RB30/26 was unreliable and car was heavy. Good thing I sold it all, used the money from it for a 1050m2 block in Nairne and the rest of the car has surprisingly made a good profit, considering you can buy a stock 32 for $4-5k.

Hi, I've recently started parting out my R32 track car to raise funds for a new project. I want to get hold of another zed but due to a tight budget I'm going to have to start low and build my way up. I'm looking for a running zed with some rust or worst a defect. I would prefer to be able to register it in SA but if it ends up being track only I wont be upset. Any handling upgrades are a bonus and I will buy interstate if need be but price would have to be worth it once transport cost's are added. Manual preference but again I'll work with anything to get where I want to, also pre 1974 is best for ADR's I believe but I'm not getting my hopes up on using it for street. please PM or email if you have anything. daniel.priaulx@yahoo.com.au Thank you, Daniel
