Model: 1979 280zx Hard top, not a targa top. Required Location: Adelaide Required Price and Payment Conditions: Neg. Item Condition:Good condition Body: Straight no damage, 3 or 4 rust spots small. Mechanical: Not running Registration: Unregistered Owned this car for the last 7 years, the previous owner had it resprayed the current colour. Its full respray engine bay and seals all matching colour. 3 or 4 rust bubbles have formed. Rear quarter had a dent, its fixes and primed just needs a top coat. It has a blue interior and the dash has a crack in it. The car hasn't been on the road in the past 2ish years. It had a head gasket issue, which I rebuild the motor ( top end mainly). Mild ported head, enlarged headers, ported intake manifold. Properly more done just can't remember it all. The motor spins freely, but wont start. It has an electrical issue and I dont have the time. Bought a house 9 months ago and have touched the car once. Its just sitting there. There is a heap of spare parts, another head, a second fuel injector manifold, new shockies, reco brake calipers, turbo gauges, new coil, leads and plugs. Matt Pm me for more info

The head light comes on and works. It's getting fuel... I know this cos I found a leak. I'll attach a test light to the starter on the weekend and double check the earth connections. It's just odd cos it won't even turn. The battery has 450 cca's

Hey all. I've got a 79 280zx and I have a problem. I had a head gasket issue 18 months ago and with all weekend project something leads to soemthing else. I ended up stripping half the bloody block, porting the end etc. Put it back together, went to start it... Nothing. Battery might of been low, charged it over night. Still nothing. When I turn the key to start it, I get nothing. No atttempting to turn it over. I'm thinking electrical?? Any ideas Cheers Matt

So... is the turbo manifold and those bits still available? Cos if not I'll put my name down pending a favour from someone.

I called Peter today, I'm gonna going to drive up and have a chat to him mid next week. I'll prob swing by Lewis engines, early nexty week and have a chat to them aswell. Its always good to get a second opinion or another set of idea's. I know about the differences in the cam profiles, hence I'm trying to decide what is the best way to go now... I dont want to be change my mind half way, though 1 build and decide on the other.

To Ledge, its always handy to get other people view on things and what they are doing. I'm after something in the mild rebuild area.... I wanna do a 20th overbore and hone and rebalence the crank, put in a mild cam in it. Nothing to extreme. Also that depends on if the block needs it. Ideally I would like to bold on a supercharger and run around 5 - 7 PSi. But thats a another topic. -Matt

Hi all, as the post title suggests I'm looking for a engine builder that knows L series or atleast general old nissans/datsuns. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers Matt
