  1. Hi all, This question has probably been asked before so apologies in advance if it comes across repetitive.. The time has finally come for me to start hunting around for a good, skilled and honest panel beater to do the body work on my 260z project car. I'm aware that it involves quite a lot of tedious work after the previous owner seems to have taken to the rust with a chainsaw. I just want to see who is out there and willing to take-on a job like this. Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated! Thanks in advance Ric
  2. Quick update on how everything is going here.. Recently I collected the last of my rust repair sections, along with replacement bumper bars and the fuel filler panel/assembly. The car is now just short of a bonnet and will be taken to the panel shop in next two weeks. Joy!
  3. Speaking of non-Nissan conversions, a TVR engine would be nice, but could you imagine finding parts for it should anything go wrong (which eventually it would, being a TVR).. Shame too because TVRs are beautiful designs and hell fast. I wonder if anyone has put a BMW M3 or early M5 (E34) engine in a Z. They are NA and make a shedload of power stock and parts would be more plentiful than a TVR. I don't really like mixing and matching brands, but if I were to go for anything outside of a Nissan in my Z, it would be one of those.
  4. My current driver is a 1984 Toyota Supra, but if I weren't restoring the Z, a Honda 2000 would be pretty tempting. Shame about the cost of the things though. The Supra is great because its stylih, comfy, practical, reliable and still good fun to drive. Makes a good noise too..!
  5. Haha, it sounds pretty odd at start, but some of the modern diesels out there make a lot of sense for a small sports car. Okay, so most of them sound like crap, but the performance is often better than a similar sized petrol engine. Its a shame that Nissan didn't choose the BMW 3-litre twin-turbo diesel inline 6 instead. It sounds great for a diesel, and makes around 210kW stock. Plus there is massive torque and respectable fuel economy. And if that's still not enough there are always those Audi V8 and V12 diesels to choose from....
  6. You've probably all seen this before, but you will want to see it again. Sounds fantastic and looks like big money!! I hope it isn't too hard to get a 'regular' L28 to sound like this...
  7. I am currently hunting-down the following parts for my 260z 2-seater project. -Bonnet -Bumper bars -Rear panel behind tail lights (You can see what I mean in my intro thread pictures) The car will be taken to a bodyshop for welding work, so I am simply gathering the parts first so they won't have to source anything themselves. If anyone is able to help me here that would be awesome!!
  8. Haha, well maybe I worded that wrong. It has to feel like a 70s car, but obviously drive nicely. Not like the plastic rubbish we get in cars these days. And forget the monaro handling and braking!
  9. Hi guys, I recently picked up an un-finished 2 seater 260z project car off a mate. The car has already been stripped and had most of its rust removed by the previous owner. The chassis is straight and rust-free so the base car is a good place to start. There is a fuel-injected L28 engine, and manual gearbox. The engine is in fine working order apart from the need to replace a fuel pump. There is also a trick cam, extractors and aftermarket exhaust system. The car came with a set of lower springs and I recently picked-up some front and rear swaybars. At the moment I am hunting for a few more bits and pieced before finally she is ready to be prepared for bodywork. The main ones are -bonnet -bumper bars -repair section for rear tail panel where rust sections have been cut-out of each corner -Windscreen There are many other bits I will need to collect along the way, but getting the body fixed will go a long way to getting this project happening My first goal is to get the bodywork cleaned-up and ready for a re-spray. While the engine is out I will be able to clean it up and replace old hoses. My goal for this project is to create a streetable yet fast sportscar that is not far from stock and captures the '70s muscle car feel. 10. Hi all, I have recently picked-up a 1974 260z 2-seater from my mate which is an un-finished restoration job. Most of the car is good however I'm searching for a few of the final parts. There are a lot of 2+2 versions being parted-out at the moment and I'm keen to know whether the bumper bars can be interchanged with a 2-seater. If anyone can shine some light on this that'd be great. Cheers
  11. Hey, would your front bumper bar fit on a 2-seater 260z? Same with the armrests. I'm located in bayswater on weekends so its no problem me coming to collect bits.
