The Red Z with the headlight covers is mine. I was hoping to go to the annual Z day that just went but I was actually mid flight from my holiday, really really did wanted to go. Sorry for being a bit anti social that day, felt a bit out of place and new to the z "live" scene, but I really do want to get to know some of you zedders sometime. The cruise was pretty cool even though I was there for only a short while.

I may quite possibly attend. I do have a few weddings around that time and unfortunately I cant remember if that date is off or not but will see.

Hi All, I need some help identifying what Distributor I may have and or what car it came from? The car is a Australian 260z with an L26. The Previous owner has told me that sometimes he gets some parts from the States. Tried to swap over the cap, rotor and points with standard 260z bosch items but managed to find out three things. 1. The new cap too small 2. The rotor doesnt fit and looks different to the one on the car 3. I have found out I have a Pertronix Igniter already installed yay bonus! Currrently doing some research to see what I can find, Possible 280zx Dizzy? Or even a 280z one? Here are some pics I tried to get of the details that were on it. Cheers. Ray

Loving your build thread. I may have missed it but your 260Z is normal road registered? Also have to ask and fingers crossed, did you get your headlight covers locally by any chance?

Yes need more s30 action. Felt left out at the last one, the only one flying the 240/260 flag. I cannot say yet if I can attend yet as my car is going into the mechanics next Thursday but tat should give them plenty of time to fix it before the next weekend. I'd love to come too because outback "cruises" are always fun but I'll let you know. Ray.

Ah yes MaygZ I forgot to mention I've replaced the 7/8 master cylinder to a 15/16. EDIT: Brakes are now properly bled while in the process of replacing the cracked rear hoses. Only managed to get the drivers rear completed and now one of the passengers rear brake line nut/bolts (not sure what its called) didn't undo is completely rounded! Yes I did use a line wrench but nothing in my arsenal worked, so off to a brake shop to get those (there is a few) replaced at a soonish date. Pedal Feel much firmer and stops before the firewall, though I still cannot drive it yet.

New news. After several months of just putting it off, I have installed a pair of Arizona Z car Willwood 6 Pots. The only issue I had with these is that the wheel weights hit the caliper if i turn the wheel, not a hard fix at all . I dont think I've bled the brakes properly as of yet, the pedal goes straight to the firewall but I'm going to do them again as still have to replace the rear brake lines anyway as they have cracks in them. Even if I did get the brakes bled properly I wouldn't have been able to enjoy them as of yet. The Triple weber carbs are still giving me grief and I think I'm done with this set so keep an eye on the forsale threads soon. I'm going to start fresh new everything.

Hi Just wondering if there are any recommended workshops that specialise in older cars, Datsuns or have great knowledge on 240z/260z/280zx in Perth? I know there seem to be a few in Melbourne and Queensland but so far I haven't even seen a mention of one in WA. Normally I like to work on my own cars but sometimes its just nicer to take it to someone who knows what they are doing. Cheers Ray.

Hi guys, A few days ago I managed to install my triples I brought off RB30x. When I turnover the car, it incredibly starts fine but after a second or two for unknown reason to me it self revs as if its on WOT until it reaches 3k! Which I turn off ignition but it does sound like it wont stop going higher! What could be the reason to this? I would have thought they would either run rough or idle. Some things i need to mention/confess though. -I brought them early on this year around Feb/March so they have been sitting around for a while. -Cannon manifold is cracked but has been mended. -I have not rebuilt these prior to installing them, though have been externally steam cleaned :S -The mixture screws are seated then turned 2 1/2 turns - i don't have information on the specs of the venturi, jets etc. - the butterfly's appear to open close the same. - Searched around for tuning, but nothing mentions high revving on its own Heh I should have been more smart prior to installing this and have them cleaned inside and out to get rid of the fuel. Its probably gummed up something inside but i was so excited and had time on my hand. Cheers Ray.

Just an update: Had a hard time getting the wheels off for better access to components. The culprit was dodgy locknuts, the key was rounded so the only way to take them off was a mallet, 23mm socket with extension and a lot of banging the socket over the locknut. But the main reason for my update is Replaced all parts for inspection, took it to O'Connor Vehicle inspections instead of Welshpool where I originally went. GOT REGO/PLATES!!!! Now to put my improvements on the car yipee!

Interestingly enough I am looking to go down this path of using as many CF parts as I can for my Z. It would be painted though to look like any other 2 seater but underneath the paint hides an anorexic beast that has just went to jenny craig.

Ok so its been about 3 weeks since I've ordered the items needed for rego from Z car parts/ Z store and i havent got a reply from them regarding tracking. A little annoyed but cant do much as it may of taken longer to deliver to me. Well for the time being I can show you pics of the carburetion (is that even a word?) setup I'm waiting to put on. FYI Matso's Mango Beer is one of the nicest beers money can buy. EDIT: Forgot to ask, I've measured the length of the throttle rod linkage thing (its name has slipped my mind at the moment) and it will not line up with the stock hook on the car. Tried a search and cannot find much so I'm assuming people modified or replaced the item on the car? I'll add a formal question about this in the correct section when its time to install these triplets. EDIT2: Well I found a bit more on this matter, i looked up "throttle linkage" and found some answers. Now just need to find a mate who can weld or attempt to learn to weld myself

Dave from Arizona confirmed with me that you need at least 13.75" inner rim "space" for the tiny bit larger 6pot calipers on the 12" rotor.

Well i just took her over the pits and came back with a re-inspection notice. The inspector said a few good things about the car, under body pretty good condition, drives well. Only a few things need to be addressed but it all looks like things that I can do at home. 1. clean and rectify engine and trans oil leaks 2. secure wiring under steering column 3. all brakes to be in serviceable condition in LHR...cracked 4. rectify worn/missing front radius rod bushes 5. rectify LH steering rack boot 1. I have personally been under the car so Im not sure of any location of oil leaks, no drips on the driveway so that's a good sign, I did notice oil seeping from the rocker cover and head spark plug/drivers side. Good time to seal and polish up the cover I think. 2.Wiring easy 3. Hmmm now I do have 6pots ready to be put on with braided lines..... 4.+5. Will need to find these parts. I'll have a go replacing these, shouldn't be too hard. I've replaced suspension components before on my other car so I'm expecting similar difficulty.

Car was 16.5k and delivery was around 1.2k Confirmed on email that the space you need inside of the wheel for 6 pot wilwood calipers using the 12" rotors is 13.75". Yay for me!

No i presume, I never asked for a roadworthy to be honest which is quite shameful as you should always ask for a roadworthy, but I inspected the car thoroughly enough to make a good judgement. By no means I am a professional mechanic but I can safely say I know a few things about cars. I asked the same question to Dave at Arizona and he has said to me that a few of his costumers have the same wheels. Without looking at the email I think he said the 6 pots require 13.45" of space inside of the wheel. I'll confirm the email when I get home, otherwise new wheels for me, which isnt a bad thing, though these wheels are really nice. While I'm here, Is there a definite solution to the 240/260z tacho malfunction problem? Before it died it bounced alot and I think with yesterdays 35deg heat it eventually gave way. Now I found that one person has put the guts from a tacho of a 280zx, that's one idea, just need to find one. Otherwise a total replacement like a VDO gauge, but I'm still learning about the different 3 or 4 wire tacho and what I can or cannot do or use.

Thanks guys, Yes I was disappointed that it just missed out on the Z meeting last Sunday, I should of went anyway but my friends convinced me into a very nice Lunch at Dim Sim Cafe. Yes it is a Datsun 260z and not a Fairlady Z, Its stamped as RS30, in my heart though she is my fair lady. Registration hopefully will be straight forward. There are a few things I will need to fix before I have a chance at inspection. - Tacho (Or is it taco from what I've seen in some posts? ) Doesn't work, it did for 10min when I picked the Z up. - Rear drums need to be looked at, it sequels every now and then. I havent determined what conditions cause it to sequel yet. -Interior needs a good tidy - Car needs to be weighed at a weighbridge or tare weight from a service manual. I've just been into Pitstop Bookshop and walked away with $340 worth of Datsun/Z/L series books, so hopefully in one of the service books show me the tare weight.

Well I really haven't decided yet but I do have 6 pot wilwoods and Triple Weber 40's on the way This is a totaly new game for me as I know little about the Z but that is why I have joined, to learn the facets, in's and out's, everything about the Z world and then from that I shall decide what fate my little Z will turn to.
