Thought I may as well have my two cents worth....Having taught at University and having a job which includes mentoring junior staff, I think the "Powers that be" treat this issue and many others in a reactive fashion. The problem here is, as most of you have said, not particularly the activities of so called "hoons" (although at least some of them shouldn't have a vehicle of any description), but the mentality behind it. The way to deal with these things is not by crushing cars (a reactionary approach) but to EDUCATE people to THINK about what they're doing (a proactive approach). I LOVE going out and giving the Z a punt, but really don't want to have my car wrecked or to kill someone. Young drivers need to be taught to drive, not given a piece of paper saying they've remembered the road rules (or most of them). Before they get their license, put them through an advanced driving course (including track work if they want). Give them some safe options for letting off steam as most kids will want to do (I know I did...but there was a lot less cars on the road in the 80s) and teach them to do it safely. ..and do all this before they get on a public road and kill themselves/somone else/have their cars crushed. And if their cars do still need to be taken off them, then give it to someone who needs it, or put the revenue back into some serious practical driver education. I feel better now...thanks.

OK, I talked to my guy this am. I'm after camber adjustment, about 1.5 to 2 degs to start with. He seems a little concerned about getting assurances that the tops will fit and provide the required adjustment...I don't know enough to know whether I should be concerned or not! On that note Mike, what sort of range do you get out of yours? ...and the weight issue can be resolved by buying the stage 2 alloy units I presume.

Reasoning as follows Lurch...suspension on the car is pretty tired. I want to set it up for occasional (weekly?) road use and light track days. I'm dealing with WA suspensions (do a lot of track cars/toys). From what they've said, the back end is suffering from positive camber, which isn't necessarily good for track. However, from what a number of people here have said (think you've said it Lurch), the back end is not as important, so I'm just going for new shocks and springs. This in turn means that the front is very important (this sounds basic I realise). To this end, WASus have suggested a complete rebuild of the front end. I can't remember what Brad said the camber up front is like, but he considered it important to be able to introduce some adjustability. I don't think he mentioned caster, but I guess adjustability there would be good as well? I would rather not have to start cutting, welding and bolting bits off/on, so Brad suggested sourcing some adjustable strut tops. So...what do you think? Mike - Thanks mate, I'll get Brad at WASus to have a look at these and check on any other info I need. Actually doesn't sund all that expensive to me...but then, I've got no idea ! I should add that at present I'm aiming for a fairly budget upgrade (2-3k with little physical input from me). Hi Zedders, at risk of offending/infuriating/irritating/boring the s@#$ out of everyone...I'm trying to work out where (and if) its possible to get hold of adjustable strut tops for the front end on my 2+2. I've done a search of the forum and found plenty of references to offshore suppliers of adjustment kits. I am however very new to this stuff (no idea really) and was hoping someone might be able to suggest something available in Oz. I'll be having the work done professionally (due to my personal limitations). Anyone out there got stories about how they might have achieved this? Cheers, Phil

Cheers...realised after posting I probably should have looked through the forums first...duh ! Found the suspension info I was after there. As to how far I'm intending to go...at present I've fitted new exhaust and need to get the suspension done fairly quick (handles like a boat)...after that....I'm realistic enough to know that once you start....they can always be made better, faster, more comfortable...or they can multiply! Its a good asylum to be in!

Hi All, Just bought a 74 260z in Perth (well, a couple of weeks back). I'm reasonably sure I saw it posted here , but could be wrong. Anyway, its the first Datto I've had since my first car..a 1600 back in 1985-8, so I'm back in the land of the living. Had an inspection done on it, and it appears to have virtually no rust, solid engine and all original. Expect its not a bad pick up for $7500. Main reason for getting in here (aprt from shring the joy) is I'm intending to drive my Z in club events (hillclimbs, sprints etc) and was wondering if any of you have some pearls of wisdom regarding suspension set-ups suitable for this type of eventing?
