    What Gearbox?

Thanks Ben, I've tried to find Hall Racing Enterprises on the Net, but can't seem to find them (or on whereis.com.au either) Can you provide any contact details for them?

    What Gearbox?

Thanks guys, I'll head down to the wrecker and count out the ratios in the next few weeks (need to get some time off work). Still trying to determine the job I am taking on to rebuild the gearbox though. Has anyone done this before? What's the complexity/time frame like? I'm confident in pulling apart the manual box; its the rebuild that's worrying me! Can you buy a new set of gear cogs with different ratios, that will fit into a 260 box? Or is this a custom job?

    What Gearbox?

Thanks Guys, I've managed to source a Z box here in Adelaide, but the wrecker has no idea what type of box it is (71 A,B or C), as it's been sitting in a corner for a while. All he can tell me is "that it's a Z box". The good news is that its dirt cheap! Can anyone tell me what part number I'm looking for and where? And which is the shorter ratio box? The guys is trying to get me to use a RB25 box, but I'd prefer the short ratio box (as 260 is planned to be a street car). Also, I'm planning on rebuilding this box before putting in the 260. I've never rebuilt a gearbox before... am I looking at a lot of work? Apologies for my ignorance; this is my first Z car AND my first attempt at a project car!
  4. A friend emailed me some photos of this rat rod Z car a few weeks ago when I bought my 260Z... I love it! There's something about this car that just screams drive me. I'm a big fan (although no way my 260 is gonna look like that!)
  5. Hi all, Trying to get my hands on a 260Z 5sp Manual Box for an Auto conversion. Also looking for components needed to do the conversion (pedals, clutch master cylinder, etc). Don't need clutch, will install new HD kit separately. Over in VIC on the 12th Dec and would be great to pickup then... and get the gearbox. My number is: 0 four 00 nine 0 one 55 two

    What Gearbox?

Can you guys recommend a box for a manual conversion? I've just bought an auto 260Z 2 seater that I want to convert over the xmas break and looking for opinions.... The plan is to eventually tweak the L28 that's in the car (mild cam, up the compression, put some webers on it, exhaust and go have fun!) Hoping to install a solid box that I won't break easily... Lurch did I read that you might be able to put together a conversion kit? I'm over in Melb on the 12th Dec and would LOVE to pick up a kit to make conversion easier (if you have time?)
  7. Cheers Mick, I'll keep that in mind... closing up that sunroof is certainly on the list of things to do. Plan it to strip it out and weld up my own rotisserie.... blast it back to bare metal and see what cancer I have to deal with. Glad to hear there's some SA representation on the forum. Should look at doing an SA catch up some time.
  8. Am I too late for this group buy? I'll order 2 x medium if I can get on the bandwagon. I will PM address
  9. Thanks Guys, and no hard feelings Rev. I don't think the seller realised just how much demand there would be for the car; she was saying that her phone has been ringing all morning (number posted with the ebay ad). Just goes to show that constant vigilence on all websites, forums, classifieds, etc. can eventually pay off. Only problem is its 'buying blind' - I'm sure there's plenty of work to be done to it. Although she has had it for 20 odd years and kept it undercover = hopefully minimal rust. Lurch, I hear your the man to talk to about body work....
  10. Sorry reverendzed, but I hit the 'buy it now' last night at 1am. I've been looking for a 240 or 260 (2 seater) for the last month, and when this one came up for $3,750 I couldn't resist. Spoke to the owner this morning and the deal is done and dusted. This is my first Z that I've ever owned! So excited to get it back to Adelaide and start a ground up resto. The owner is glad that its getting restored and wants me to send her photos. Look forward to being more active in the forums now that I actually got a Z!
  11. Hi Datzed, I've tried sending you a couple of PM's but it doesn't look like they are getting through (not appearing in my sent items). Can you give me a ring on 0400 901 552 to discuss your 260Z? I've been looking for a project starter if your thinking of moving your 260 on I'd be keen to discuss. Thanks, - JB UPDATE! Thanks for the people calling me to offer cars for sale, I've recently bought a 260Z 2 seater and I'm no longer looking to buy. Cheers
  12. Thanks for the warm welcome, George's socks = noted and avoided! Shame that those flared guards are so $$... Is there any good alternatives in Oz? Don't suppose I can twist any of your arms to let go of a spare project/doner/spare parts 240? Worth asking the question!
  13. Hi All, Just a quick message to say hi and introduce myself... My name's John and I'm looking at starting a new 240Z project. Many years ago I was looking around for a 240Z and you could pic up something straight with a bit of rust for sub $2,000. How things have changed! Seems I am joining a long list of hopefuls to snatch up a decent 240Z to start a project on. Before anyone says it, I know it will be a long wait! My daily driver is a 2000 WRX, so I'm happy to wait for the right 240Z to come along. The plan is to restore one rather than modify excessively, but I would love to get the body looking something like Mark Rolston's 240Z... love those integrated flared guards! I don't suppose anyone has tried to obtain these from Al’s Bodyworks in Austin, Texas? Anyway, that's me. I look forward to talking to you guys via the forum. Cheers, - J.B.
