  1. Checked it out and seemed in good knick. No interior etc. Floor looks solid, chassis and underneath has some surface rust but not deep. Guy had a banged up 240k 2 door , wanted that too but lots of rust and he doesnt seem to wanna part with it.
  2. Went and checked this one out. Lots of rust. Not in salvageable condition but needs alot of work. Definitely won't budge on price
  3. Going to check out another 2+2 today. Has l26 but no transmission. No interior but paintwork looks good and inteior looks like there is no rust in the floors. Dog legs look rust free. Perfect for what I want but not sure what he wants for it yet. What you guys think its worth? I was thinking around the 3k would be reasonable?
  4. Well that one was no good. Too far gone, had rust in some of the usual places but it was also starting to creep through joints and etc. On top of that, the bloke has owned it for 8 years and it's been outside majority of that time - not good when you live near the water! I would say that it's a good parts car, with the N54 block and so on but he would not budge under 4k. Reckons he will just paint it and keep it - buyer beware. He did have a Triumph stag as well, but it wasn't too good knick. He wanted 15k for that one! Time to keep looking
  5. Thanks for the advice guys. Love this forum. I am taking my father in law with me to check it all out, he has more experience then me when it comes to rust. His done up a few cars in his time! It is exciting, but I will try and put that to the side :-)
  6. Checking out a 260z 2+2 tomorrow. Wants just under 4k but seems like a reasonable deal - has had all the rust repaired by panel beater, dints etc removed. Has full interior etc + also has the L28 with gearbox. All it needs now is paint.
  7. The reason I would be getting the car is so I can do a full resto with an engine swap etc. So what ever I get, it will eventually be stripped down and rebuilt. I have two trains of thought at the moment. There is a 260z shell that is up for sale that has had majority of the rust cut out, I can buy that - then when I get a chance, buy another rust bucket to transfer all the suspension parts, interior etc across and slowly build it up from there or....buy something like the 2.5k one, get it running and then slowly work on repairing the rust etc while still enjoying the car.
  8. Thanks for the reply. That is the one thing I am worried about, rust. It seems majority of the 260z's in my price range are in Victoria at the moment and so it makes it quite hard to check it out for myself, especially with a newborn that just arrived! Has anyone seen or checked out this one. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/thomastown/cars-vans-utes/1977-datsun-260z-coupe/1036812542 or http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/thomastown/cars-vans-utes/1975-datsun-260z-2-2-auto/1034532786
  9. Hi Everyone, I originally came on this site a number of years back now looking at getting a 240z/260z. Well unfortunately due to certain circumstances I was unable to, until now I was converted to a bike rider for a while there but after seeing a 260z on the road yesterday, I have decided the bike is going to fund a 260z project! I have no need for a car so it doesn't matter if it doesn't run and be off the road for a while What I wanted to ask is whether people think I should be able to get a reasonable 260z for around 4-5k? I haven't really been up to date with the prices lately. It doesn't necessarily need to have rego and be running but would like most parts to be there Thanks, Andrew.
  10. Haha, yeah don't worry. I only ever go on there to see whether there are any cars of interest of for sale! Other than that, I hate the site lol.
  11. http://www.boostcruising.com/forums/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=751294 http://www.boostcruising.com/forums/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=759065 I tried to give the guy a call, left a message and SMS but nothing back from him yet. I'm hoping it's not sold yet but my luck it will be!
  12. The one from melbourne that popped up is perfect, absolutely perfect! It's exactly what I want, and lower then my price range! Had to be down in melbourne! I couldn't buy a parts car atm unfortunately, I've have a Mazda Astina SP, Mazda 323 SS and Ford Laser TX3 as part cars (back when I was first on my P's lol) and my parents just got sick of it! Thankfully, I move out to my own place soon! Happy days. Update: I may have found one that has been resprayed about a year ago with blown headgasket....
  13. If only you were up here in NSW!!
  14. I can't wait. I've only seen a 240 in person once and my god it sounded and looked great! It's from out my way (Narellan) and it's green? The missus absolutely loves them too, always a bonus Been looking at this one http://cgi.ebay.com.au/DATSUN-260Z_W0QQitemZ320371292657QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Cars?hash=item320371292657&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A1|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A0|293%3A1|294%3A50 but I think it's more trouble then it's worth - I bet its got loads of rust!
  15. Just from Western Sydney - actually out near member (Locky). I've been keeping my eyes peeled, it's going to be a project car so I don't mind if it has no engine or anything (plan is to change that anyway) but initially I am looking around the 3-4k mark. Not sure if that can get me much though.
  16. Hey everyone, Just thought I would introduce myself. I've been lurking around this site for quite a while now, and decided it was time to register and post up something. Basically, I am hoping to one day soon be the owner of a 240z or 260z. Fell in love after seeing a few gorgeous examples on here! Went from having a 180sx Type X to a BF XR6 Turbo to a Transit company van lol. So now I am on the hunt for a good project car! Anyway, short but sweet. Anyone finds any good bargains - let me know
