should i look into sandblasting then? i have checked everywhere for rust, but dont really know what im looking for. from what i can tell the only rail that is rusted is under the radiator where it was leaking and floors seem in good nick

heres a few pics the rust after ive taken the paint off. i thought there would be alot more to be honest. going to have another look at it tomorrow before i put any bog over it, all opinions are welcome and i really appreciate all the help

hey all, finally got a permit for a unregistered vehicle. anyways i went down to a local mechanic today to have a puncher repaired and to sus out wether the body rust would pass a road worthy. turns out I'm going to have to sand it back and fix or hide it.. I've never done anythin like this before don't really know what to expect in regards to how much rust will actually be under the paint. lol i really hope i don't end up needing to fill up my baby with bog. im going to start tomorrow and ill try to remember to take a few pics before during and after so y'all can tell me how im going PS, still got a list of other problems to get to the bottom of before roadworthy blinkers only flash once then stays lit gauges need to be fixed round headlights only work on highbeam no hazards (button is there just doesn't work) fuse wires from the bonnet fuse box need to be replaced

hi all this is going to sound real stupid but on my 260z 2+2, the round lights are they for high and low beam? or are those dim as lights next to the blinkers the low beams? can i change the set up? ie: change the round ones to have both high and a low setting. also my blinkers are playing up, when i go to signal it'll blink 1 time then stay lit, its the same on both left and right sides. the electrics in this thing are strange to say the least, i noticed 2 lots of wire going straight into the fuse box looks kinda like speaker wire. the radio of course doesn't work neither do half the gauges and hazard lights wont go on. i think i might need an auto elect lol PS, is the 2 way button near the choke light work the antenna? my antenna is gone and when i push that switch either way i hear a vrrrrrrrrrrghn sound i figure its the motor for the missing antenna if not what the hell is it :-\

thank you all for such a warm welcome, its a 75 im restoring it but i wouldn't hold ur breath on when it'll be RW no cash to put into it atm and got alot of other stuff goin on right now, as for paint ive got a few mates who r sprayers by trade so ill probly be gettin that done fairly soonish as ive been told they would do it at the price of the paint. i have a ruff idea of the color but not 100 percent, thinking jet black or charcole with one thick deep purple racing stripe and double pinstripes either side of the stripe. im sure it'll be fun trying to get that done without paying the labour lol

pritty sure its a 75 but ill check again tomorro, it's very good to hear that ive got the good carbs and even better that its had dodgie respray and (hopefully) isn't a rust bomb

hey evryone names leon im from werribee vic im farely new to the forum, i recently brought my first car a 260z 2+2 probly wasnt the best car to get for my first but i loved it as soon as i sore it, i paid 1000 for it the guy was asking 1500. the paint could be better and im not sure how much rust its got but im hoping it'll pass road worthy. the guy i brought it from said the engine has had work done but wasnt sure what as he was selling for a freind who lives out of melton. ive repaired the radiator but apart from that its as i broght it any comments or info on the car would be apreciated as i have no idea what im doin lol thanks for reading and sorry about my pigeon english

i've been looking around online for a L28 to put in my 260z 2+2 and noticed that old patrols also use the L28 in the petrol version, anyway my question is would the diesel patrol motor from the same year (rd28) go in as easy as im told the L28 would. and weather there would be any point going for the diesel motor over the L28

hey evryone, i recently brought a 75 260z 2+2 for my first car, it was in a backyard under a tarp for the last four years with a very holy radiator, got it home had the radiator repaired put it back together didn't work, being my first car had no idea thermostat would be stooged too, refurbished that. now it all seems to be working (raditor is sucking and doin it's job) but my water temp gauge isnt working neither is the gauge its connected to i think its oil pressure, anyway i was wondering what would be stopping it from working and where is the plenum located and how can i check if it's working thanks location is werribee victoria
