  1. Southern Highlands weather forecast is for thunderstorms late morning, early afternoon. Undercover sounds very good!
  2. My '81 also says 280z on the compliance plate, I think that's normal. It even says 280z on the rego papers!
  3. That sounds like the earth wire is no longer connected somewhere.
  4. Between '78 and '88 I used a '72 240z auto as my only car. It only ran on Super and returned about 9.5L/100km normal driving and down to 8L/100km on a trip. It had cold air-con and was a joy to drive. Now I use an '82 280zx auto as my daily driver. Running E10, I can get 10L/100km being careful, probably better if I ran Premium. Much better if it was a Manual. Cold air-con, power steering, a joy to drive for the older me. Yes, it's picked up a few bumps and scrapes in parking lots, but for a daily, you have to accept that .
  5. Bog standard series2 280zx auto. Commuting between Blue Mountains and Western Sydney (Huntingwood). Mostly highway & motorway driving. Engine type: L28 Engine Size: 2.8 Tank size: 80 litres (never used it all) Kilometers to tank: usually refill about 600km. L/100km: 10.92 (averaged over last 2942km) Injector size: whatever's standard. Pete.
  6. That sounds like a great idea! I've only met a few of you guys, count me in. Pete.

    Spotto Sydney

Spotted a red two seater with white rear on the Northern Road last Friday arvo. Going through a roundabout south bound near Bringelly, older guy at the wheel. I was on the opposite side of the roundabout in my Mitsucrappy. Pete.
  8. It might have been nice, but we've all missed it anyway. 21st and 22nd of August 2010
  9. Guys, Another site that I post on occasionally has a "private forum" section that isn't visible until you have x number of posts. I browse some sites as time permits at work. Because I don't bother logging in, as a guest I often can't view photos or attachments and that can get frustrating. The beauty of an invisible section is that a newbie or guest doesn't know it's there, so hopefully won't get peeved by being locked out. I don't know if this site supports that sort of thing, but it's an idea if you feel the need for security. Pete
  10. I had a similar problem late last year. Assuming it was the battery failing, I took it up to my local mechanic. He fitted a new battery, then, when it wasn't any better, tested the starter and found it to be the problem. The local Auto Electrician rebuilt the starter, and it now starts first hit hot or cold. Pete.
  11. +1 A big thanks, it's very embarrassing when my car starts flashing highbeam on the motorway. I bent the switch contact a bit, which seemed to fix the problem for a couple of months, but now it's back again! Pete.

    Spotto Sydney

He's from Lawson. 240z, California wide body kit, Z31 turbo engine. Goes very well. The body styling looks great from many angles, but some (me) find certain features ...odd. As the saying goes, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". It's not my car, so what I think, isn't important. It's a work in progress, a bit rough up close at the moment, but has the potential to be amazing. I'll ask if I can post a couple of photos next time I see him. Pete.

    Dipstick?

I just checked my '81 280zx and it has the P6500 dipstick. I can only assume it's the original one. Pete.
  14. Hey Kev333, how have you gotten on with your warning light problem? My red light turned out to be a low coolant reservoir level, that should have brought the "Water" symbol on (but didn't). Pete.
  15. As the title says, Bathurst Swapmeet is on this Sunday, showground gates open 6:00AM. I bought some good stuff here a few years back, you never know what you may find. Having said that, I'm a bit worse for wear at the moment, so I'll wait to see how I feel Sunday morning. Pete.
  16. Maybe an earth wire got missed when reassembling the dash? Unfortunately it means taking at least some of it off again to check.
  17. Guys, remember that this is a 280zx. It's the warning display. Kev, the manual isn't much help. If none of the specific error symbols are displayed, Stop (lights), Head (lights), Tail (lights), Wash (windscreen washer level) or Water (radiator level), a red light is "Indication that there is a malfunction". It gives no information beyond that. I guess this means none of those five items are faulty but that leaves a lot of other stuff to check. If your car runs rough, start there. The manual can be downloaded from the HybridZ site. Sorry I can't be more help, my 280zx also has the red light on at the moment, but it runs fine. Pete.
  18. Bigworm, There's a 280zx computer on fleabay at the moment. $50 or offer at West Ryde in Sydney. The car would sell easier if it ran. Pete.
  19. Mate, I can't believe nobody's bid on it. I love what you've done around the windows! It's a shame it's in QLD and NSW's rego is so tough.......... gasp, wheeze, thud. That was the sound of my wife choking me for even thinking about it Seriously, I hope someone comes to the party on this. Pete.
  20. I was given a keyring with the acronym D.O.G. shortly before buying my 280zx. The other side says Depend On God. I used it as my user name to remind myself not to get too distracted by worldly possesions. Pete.
  21. Hi, jared, PM sent. Pete.
  22. I saw the number plate ZEDMAN a month or so ago near Eastern Creek. Cool plate, trouble is, it was on one of those trucks that pick up waste skips from building sites. Pete.
  23. I'll be there, driving the 280 (if it starts). Bringing my son as co-pilot (brainwashing time ) Pete.
  24. Hey, every cloud has a silver lining. If it was on today, I'd have been driving my Mitsucrappy. IF I can get there on the 14th, I'll bring the Datsun. Pete.
  25. Oh bugger, I'm working dayshift this Sunday, but had organised to take a couple of hours off to get to the meet. I'll be working nightshift on the 14th, it may not be practical anymore. :-\ Pete.
