Hey All, FIRST BATCH SOLD OUT - NO FURTHER PAYMENTS UNTILL FURTHER NOTICE......I will advise (soon) when the next Batch will start for any further interested parties. All 10 kits from the first batch are now accounted for. I expect the Handbrake cables to arrive from my supplier around the 1st April. All Buyers will hear from me individually regarding postage costs then. For all those Overseas Buyers (Hybridz) who managed to send their Payments through in Aussie Dollars (3 of you !!!), THANKS...for those who sent them through in US Dollars, Thanks also, but PLEASE make sure to send through Aussie dollars when you send the Postage amounts (to be advised based on your location)....ZZeal's post above has made a good point about the conversion rates...they fluctuate daily - therefore your US$ payment is decreasing everyday in value due to the Aussie dollars value rising...I have already lost $90 in total value from those who have paid in US$ ! Pretty basic stuff here folks. Sorry to be so podantic, however profits on this exercise are already low, so every further loss hurts and also may influence the viability of the whole exercise in the future.... Thanks again Warren -

OK, its been a while since i gave you an updatre on this site - mostly Ive been on teh Hybridz Site. My sample cable arrived finally (for the second time) - This time he sent me the length I asked for, and was subsequently able to trim to suit. So, Im sending off that sample cable with everything trimmed to length to be completed (all ends properly crimped on etc), and I will place an order for a further 9 cables exactly the same. I will be doing this tomorrow. So I guess if I allow him a week to 10 days to complete the order, looks like I can start sending kits out to those who have paid (once they send the additional postage payment) on around the 1st April. I also went around to a friends house who owns a 2+2, got underneath and compared the cable with my coupe cable, and they are exactly the same, which is further good news - It means I dont have to produce a different cable for the 2+2 models. Ill get in touch with all those who have paid shortly - those who havent yet sent me their Full name and postal address, please do so as soon as possible to avoid any further delays. Thanks everyone for your patience ! Warren -

hehe....you guys are nuts. I actually did my trade as a Brake Mechanic......flushed a trillion systems through...so dont stress about it mate, its no big deal. leave the Master in place, but suck the fluid out of the resevoirs with anything you can find....after that you could even remove the resevoirs from the master cylinder body and wash them out properly with water (make sure you let them dry out completely though !), and wipe out any excess dirt in the Mast Cly openings. Replace everything, refill with nice clean fluid, and bleed through. Do the furthest wheel first, and do about 10 or 12 pumps AFTER the fluid becomes clear....dirt wont get caught in the seals. Work your way to the closst bleeder and youre done. No rocket science really ! Having said all that, I have seen master cylinders give up after a fluid flush, but its uncommon. Let us know how you go mate !
-
Dirt & contiminants in Master cylinders is common on cars that have been neglected....If your car has a good pedal, then you may be throwing your money away by replacing the Master Cyl.....If it was mine, Id suck out all the old fluid, including the dirt, fill with new fluid, & then bleed/flush the system. If you have an air compressor at home, then go to repco and buy a vacuum bleeder...mate they are brilliant for sucking up fluids and crap from anywhere....it will be one of the most useful tools youll ever buy ! anyway, replacing your master is also a good option, just a lot more expensive than an extra bottle of fluid ! lol

Update..... Got the first batch of plates laser cut....See attached picture. First 10 sets are at the machinist - the other 10 sets (in pic) are at my place..... STILL awaiting the handbrake prototype (from new supplier) to arrive, hopefully tomorrow. So, all being good, first 10 sets should be ready in about 2 weeks. Thanks all for your patience...it may seem simple, but co-ordinating things whilst holding down a job aint easy ! Warren -

UPDATE Hey All...... All my quotes have come in, but the quote on the new cable was a lot more than I was hoping (basically the supplier said that there was no discount for a large order). So...I have done some more searching for suppliers, and found a mob that specialise in cables only. My Logic says that they 'should' be cheaper as thats their specialty. Anyway, after a quick conversation with the guy, and after he had a look at my drawing, hes quoted me a price that is much more acceptable. I am awaiting for him to send me the parts required to make up the first cable so I can verify that it will be compatible with the other kit components. Its put me back a week or two - Sorry !...End result though will hopefully be a better quality cable and a lower kit price. Other quotes have come in at pretty much what I was expecting, so assuming that the cable is all good, then Im happy to say that I will be able to offer the kit for $475 (Aussie) Plus Postage. PLEASE NOTE : This price is subject to the cable being of acceptable quality and fitment. If you have any questions or queries, please email me at wgilbert@iinet.net.au. -

Hey Jerryb... Well, I have been thinking about that....As we all know the silly season is fast approaching, so I have decided to take orders first thing in January. This will give me time to get the best possible prices from prospective suppliers, which will obviously mean a lower purchase price (depending on bulk buy numbers....) Also, it just doesnt make sense to take on such a project approaching christmas, as companies are usually short staffed and overworked at this time anyway. So....what i WOULD definately like though, is for all you guys and girls who are interested in a kit, to please Add your name to the list (starting with Jerryb)- see the next post !.....that way Ill know what qty's I will be chasing come the new year. Thanks Warren -

UPDATE : Borrowed some wheels last weekend, and very cautiously went for a drive....Had a bit of a knock from the Right Rear rotor, so I swapped it from RH to LH to confirm it was the rotor and not anything else - It is the rotor - Will sort that out in due course. The Handbrake - I couldnt be happier ! It worked really well. I stopped on a fairly steep slope and it held no problems. I even released it and let the car start rolling, and reapplied the handbrake, and it stopped the car after rolling another metre or so. Attached a couple of pics of the car with the borrowed wheels......clearance is tight, but its enough ! haha
