  1. I haven't followed up on it yet, but on initial viewing of the posted image, I thought that it wasn't a mechanical setup either, but studying it has led me to this conclusion. If you look at the centre of the caliper where the two chrome looking hooks are.....I believe that this is the mechanical actuatuator mechanism. I reckon it works by squeezing together these levers, which are pivoted on the caliper, which forces the pads together irrespective of the hydraulic pistons.....not sure if thats fact though, just how it looks to me. If that is indeed the way it works, there would be issues in getting the handrake cable to band around that far, as the caliper would still have to be mounted on the front of the strut.
  2. Yes Zedevan, That is the case, the new bracket replaces the supplied AZC one entirely.....if you bought the complete kit off AZC then the brackets would be surplus to your needs. I guess one way around this would be to order the kit from him, including the spot calipers (which he will do apparently according to previous posts), but minus the brackets.....may be an option. With regards to the dust seals. Every state is going to have its own laws and legislation on such matters. I know here in WA it 'shouldn't' be a problem, as I have mates with highly modified cars, which have the same calipers on them - They passed engineering without a problem. So, in a nutshell, I guess its up to the individual to assess what the legalities are in their own state. Price? well as yet I still don't know. My first set is probably going to cost me around $500 all up. Thats supply of plate for bracket & cable bracket, Laser cutting, machining (thats the major expense) & Cable hardware & manufacture. Hopefully if I get 10 sets, or 20 made up (depending of course on orders), then the price 'should' hopefully drop. I wont know that for a while though. Sorry Woza
  3. No I didnt get mine from Wilwood....I was lucky enough to find a brand new pair for sale on ebay Australia. Snapped them up immediately. Try the Wilwood website. A quick search on google came up with plenty of suppliers - here are the first 2, but they are in the USA. I didnt try an aussie search, but you get the idea ! http://www.pitstopusa.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=3685 http://www.jegs.com/p/Wilwood/757779/10002/-1/11755 Cheers Woza
  4. Hi All, With the recent strong value of the Aussie Dollar v the US Dollar, I went out and spent up big with Arizona Z Car. Its great gear and fits well, however the lack of a handbrake is less than adequate. I have redesigned the supplied bracket, so that it now incorporates a Wilwood Mechanical Spot Caliper, as well as the original Wilwood 4 Piston Caliper. I have posted a few pictures in the Gallery section if you are interested to see what it looks like. In the next 2 to 3 weeks, I will be finalising the connection of the new custom handbrake cable....This alone has been quite challenging. I will post more pics of that side of things once its in place. Since posting the pics, I have already had numerous enquiries about supplying them to fellow Z owners. I am totally happy to do this, but it will obviously only be once Ive tested it out on the road in real life situations (Parking on an incline etc). If you are interested in a set, which will comprise of 2 Caliper brackets, 2 small handbrake cable mounts, and a brand new custom Handbrake cable, then please let me know so I can go ahead and make some enquiries about costings for multiple orders. I would also appreciate any feedback / suggestions etc etc from you guys. I look forward to hearing from you. Warren (Woza01)

    Rear Brakes

Good Idea Charlie Boy - I have posted a thread in the Brake Forums ! At this stage no.....I dont have any pics yet of the cable in position. I still need to get the additional cable mounts laser cut, bent & welded. Ive got most of the hardware that Im going to use for the cable, but need the mounts done before I can proceed.

    Rear Brakes

Ill do my best....total bummer that this whole work thing gets in the way of the things that i would like to do haha. I also have a problem ....I have no wheels, so even when I do get the cable sorted, I cant go for a test drive, and Ill be very reluctant to produce any more untill I know they work well - The last thing I want is a lynch mob ! haha

    Rear Brakes

Yep, I bought the kits and did it all myself. Its a lot cheaper that way. I assume that if you did Buy the whole assembly, you would be given the option of 240Z or 260Z Struts. I guess you'd need to confirm that before ordering though. Personally, I see no point in paying all that extra just for cutting a strut tube and welding a sleeve on ! haha

    Rear Brakes

Yeah...Dave at AZC isn't interested at all about the H/Brake setup side of things - Have you read the FAQ on his website ?...makes for some funny reading  !

    Rear Brakes

Once Ive got the handbrake cable sorted out, and I know its all good, then yes, I will be happy to do a group order. Individually (1 set at a time) arent cheap....like anything its cheaper the more you get done. So I guess it depends on interest. You are the 2nd Query I have had in a few days, so its looking good. Anyone else who might be keen, please express your interest so I can perhaps make some enquiries about bulk orders. :-o

  16. Thanks Guys...Ill keep the inverstigation going. A an alternative I might just simply do a complete RB25DET engine AND gearbox swap, and take out my L28ET first. I actually have approval in principle to do this already. It means however that Id need to sell my current donk...but it will go as a complete bolt in package.....intercooler, ducting, engine, gearbox, exhaust, fuel pump, Haltech E6X & a laptop to tune it with, lots of fruity shiney bits that havent gone on it yet etc etc etc..... Time will tell I guess ! Cheers Woza
  17. Hi all, My original 5 speed has decided it doesn't enjoy life any more, so its time to go......Id like to put in an RB25DET 5 speed. Does ANYONE know who makes/can make a custom bellhousing for the RB25 Box so that it will bolt up to the L series engine ?. I have seen an adaptor plate that available, but you also have to buy a Z32 bellhousing, get it machined & modified etc to get it to work - to be honest, it looks pretty disgusting. I know that these bellhousings have been done before, as I have a magazine that features a 280ZX turbo in Victoria, with an L28ET mated up to an RB25DET box. ANY help would be very much appreciated. Cheers Woa01
  18. I have recently upgraded my brakes on my 260, and subsequently the inner flange on my Simmons 3 piece wheels dont clear the 6 pot front calipers, so I need to sell them to get something that will fit. Simmons F90 Fully Polished 16x7 Front, 16x8 Rear Tyres Sumitomo 225/50ZR16 (80% Tread) Front, 245/45ZR16 Rear (40% Tread). I phoned Simmons earlier this week.....to buy these wheels new you'd pay $3006 + freight. Then you'd have to buy tyres. Anyway, I am looking for $1950 for the lot. Check out the pics below...the Blue Z is mine (Never mind the red bonnet....car is being painted soon !), and the black one is a mates car.....He wanted to see what they would look like on his 240 ! I am happy to answer any questions you may have, or to send high res pics ! email me at wgilbert@iinet.net.au OOPS ! Forgot to mention I am in Perth !!!! Cheers NEW INFORMATION : I have worked out the Offsets, under instructions from Simmons. They are as follows : Front Offset for 7' RIms = -8.5mm (RIm Width = 205mm, Backspace = 111mm) Rear Offset for 8' Rims = -9.0mm (Rim Width = 228mm, Backspace = 123mm)
