  1. I agree - the alternator should be putting out over 14 volts to be effective. You might want to check all your earthing points while you're there too. I had a weird ignition problem caused by an intermittent ground
  2. I've seen these before. They work best when combined with little blue lights in the washer nozzles.
  3. Hi folks, just checking if a 280ZX radiator fits into a 240Z? I suspect I may already have one, as it hangs below the lower member (and the stone tray no longer fits). Just wanting to confirm, as there's a nice alloy unit on ebay at the moment. Cheers! G
  4. Awesome. I love how it's now a single seater! And the suspension's so low, like really down in the weeds.
  5. Awesome idea, and a good opportunity to meet some fellow zedders. Count me in, pending timing. I'll bring some barbie meat and a slab of something interesting. G
  6. Nice find - some inspiring pics, and a few disturbing ones... I followed the link in one of the pics - very much liking this dark green colour: http://www.datsunzoomclub.ca/zday/2008/zday2008-e.html

  15. Something a little more obscure...
  16. Hey folks, a quiz for the day - what is this Nissan?
  17. Welcome aboard! Nothing wrong with a toyota engine swap - the 2JZ is a fine engine. You should probably think about getting the chassis and braking system up to scratch first though! G
  18. I agree - a 240 would be an awesome first car, but the repairs and upkeep would soon kill the enthusiasm! You might want to consider another datto - maybe a 180B SSS. Still a cool car, and similar tech to a 240Z so you can skill up while you save up... Hmm, come to think of it, I wouldn't mind adding a SSS to my collection... Cheers! G
  19. I've had a heap of work done by z-shop over the years and never had any problems. I bought my car off Lindsay back in 1993, and an engine rebuild 8 years ago is still going strong. Like any retail business, I'd guess a fair proportion of people complaining probably had unrealistic expectations in the first place. $750 sounds fair to me. Try getting a reco box for a modern car for that price - it would barely cover the labour. Cheers, Gyra
  20. Nice collection of cars. And I can barely keep my 240 and a beetle from falling into a collection of pieces! G
  21. Found the problem; and no, it wasn't the relay, or a non-standard motor - thanks for the hints anyway. I pulled the wiper motor assembly out, and found that the micro-switch on the back of the gear-box section had fractured in half. This micro-switch is activated by a cam spinning on the back end of the gear shaft. In normal operation the switch would be shorted as the cam rotated past. With the end of the switch snapped off the switch was permanently shorted - ie the unit was fooled into thinking the wipers were permanently parked. Sadly the micro-switch doesn't appear to be easily repaired, so I'm on the search for a new wiper motor assembly. Maybe one of those Honda units, but surely there's a suitable Nissan unit? I've attached a couple of pics of the unit disassembled for reference.
  22. The windscreen wipers on my 240 have never automatically parked when turned off - is this normal? It's annoying, but one of those jobs I've never got round to investigating... G

    Adjustable camber

Thanks guys. I suspect the lower springs actually change both the camber and the toe - the lower arm is now more horizontal than before, therefore pushing the wheels towards more negative camber. I've got adjustable caster rods, so there is at least some adjustment available. Looks like a professional wheel alignment coming up after Christmas... G
  24. Oh dear - it's annoying how little fix-up jobs can snowball! And I thought fixing a little bump on the bonnet was a pain. Good luck! G
  25. Has anyone had any experience with the K-Mac front camber adjustment kits? I'm getting some wear on the inside of my front right tire after installing some new (lower...) springs. (seems odd as the left tire is fine).
