bluebird box

Im considering buying a series 2 1982-83 Bluebird 5 speed box...just wondering if anyone has ever dropped one in...? any mods with the console necessary ?

I had one many eons ago , and I found it to be a very nice gearbox, with a relatively short throw & good ratios.

Im assuming the 280zx box and the bluebird box are fairly different in their ratio's..?  I just really like the bluebird gearboxes

S1/2 Bluebird will fit (S3/CA20 box's; Bellhouseing needs changing)

The late 70's 1.8 and 2.0L had 4 speeds with the short bellhousing.  I hammered them pretty hard.  They were strong but the syncs would constantly go.  So I hope for you they made some changes by the time the 5 speeds came around.  Actually the biggest annoyance was how many clutch slaves I went through.

We run the Bluebird 5 speed in our 1600 rally car. Usually get 1-2 years out of them then throw-em away. Alot of full rev flat shifting with minimal clutch use

many moons ago I had a series 2 bluebird  I still recall how nice a gearbox it was. The car did 200,000kms and the damn gearbox never missed a beat.

considering you can buy a bluebird in ok cond for $500 I wonder if any other parts are interchangeable....brakes perhaps ??
