Administrators gav240z Posted November 9, 2014 Administrators Posted November 9, 2014 Hi Guys, This is the chrome strip that runs along the line of the car (not the part the window winds up into), it sits at the bottom of the window frame. As seen here: The horizontal piece, which has the rubber strip running along it. I need a drivers side trim for a 2 seater, unless anyone know how easy it is to modify shorten a 2+2 version? Sooner would be better than later, as I need it to determine exactly where to cut excess off my door skin. Cheers, Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted November 10, 2014 Author Administrators Posted November 10, 2014 The reason I need 1, as you can see the driver side 1 looks fubar. This is how it should look. This will help me determine "VEAR ZOO MAKE ZE INZISION DOCTOR!" Quote
Brabham Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Perhaps try Nissan Gav, they sometimes stock Z parts. Col Crawford at Brookvale can get some bits in. If you try them can you ask if they do 2+2 strips - I am hesitant to reuse these as they often rust inside and the rubber perishes. If new ones are not too exy it might be worth buying a pair. Quote

There is also a damaged passenger(US) one listed which you might be able to straighten Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted November 10, 2014 Author Administrators Posted November 10, 2014 Hey mate, I have actually found several brand new ones in Japan. http://page5.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e154261863 http://page4.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/d160157869 http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b150084398 http://page19.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/x370135351 But just wanted to get 1 for reference at this stage, not so worried about it's condition or the rubber etc.. skipz Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Gav, I have just bought replacements for mine, so ... I have spares. You can certainly use them for reference. Chris. Quote

You can certainly use them for reference. Chris. Thanks mate, I may take you up on that offer. However I think I may have solved this anyway by using the old door skin as a template to cut the new 1. Quick bump - might order this 1 on eBay US. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-1971-1972-1973-DATSUN-240Z-260Z-280Z-UPPER-DOOR-TRIM-MOLDING-CHROME-RH-/321436545931 Quote
Old Man Z Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Hey Gav, if you are going to buy a set from ebay etc , from my limited amateur experience just check them for a slight bend towards the rear qtr window ( which I think they should have for the 240 and 260 2 seater? ) think some replacements don't actually follow the origanal lines. Could be wrong , but good news is they are stainless and have sanded mine from 400 to 1600 and then buffed and polished and look pretty good . Have a spare set if you need , cheers Will Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted November 12, 2014 Author Administrators Posted November 12, 2014 Have a spare set if you need , cheers Will Hi mate, If you have a spare set for a 2 seater I'm interested. Let me know what you'd want for them? I'd rather buy locally than have to ship from US due to additional cost / hassle. Send me a PM if you like? Quote
