Who in Melbourne knows how to wire a EFI 240z and wants to make some cash.

Hi guys need some help. My car is all hooked up and ready to go but won't start and doesnt have power. Basically lifted a microtech managed efi l28et from a previous 2+2 a few years ago and have fitted it into my 73 240z. Removed and installed the loom as a whole but something is not right hardware wise everything is all in and hooked up. I have made a few changes since the changeover eg manual conversion, intercooler, under car surge tank and fuel system, deleted egr otherwise everything else is the same.

 

Although im a mechanic and good with the spanners and have a intermediate understanding of car electrics im no electrician.

 

Im almost certain ive mixed up some wires for the starter motor and there are a few odd wires that seem to not connect to anything. Ive fitted the wires back in accordance with pics i took at the time of removing the motor and loom but some pics i took were lost or blurry and hence the problem.

 

So who wants to make some spare cash. Happy to pay $30 an hour and pay for your petrol or a few slabs of beer. Shouldn't be a hard job as nothing from the original running loom was cut or spliced. Have to come here though as my car cannot be towed due to missing a strut. I have all tools etc. Just bring a multimeter.

Every time i have to get this sort of stuff done, it is anything from 75 to 100 per hour, and that includes their travelling to and from my place.

Bugger of a thing but just watching a technowiz just experiment, without knowing the outcome, for three or five hours is not easy.

Oh well, i will play with modified L28 EFI and signals/sensors.

 

It gets annoying when it turns out to be simple oversight i could have sorted out prior, but with rootard eyesight it makes it pretty hard for me.

I've wired up 2-3 zeds before (2 of mine) with Wolf and one with Autronic... pretty similar in the way of wiring up. All times both started up so I did something right!

Dimitri sounds good. Happy to pay you what you want.

 

Theres no cutting or splicing to be done, Just a ring or spade terminal here and there that needs to be swapped around, but i don't want to risk frying the ecu or something.

 

Has no airflow meter. Running map sensor. Coil wiring all connected, O2 sensor in, temp sensor plugged in, alternator and resistors plugged in, ecu in,  fuel pumps connected and earthed, gearbox wires bridged. But there are about 4-5 bullet/ring connectors near the starter motor that is unaccounted for and im almost certain it something to with them. And unsure on the starter motor wiring as i couldnt remember if +pos was to connect to selenoid or not. And whether its earthed properly or not.

 

As for $70-$100 thats pretty steep. The auto elecs i know charge $40-$50 but are on holidays and will almost certainly waste my time and i'd rather somebody who is familiar with Zeds do it. Rather than my perfectly good loom chopped up and butchered which could make it worse.

 

Car was running and driving well before removal, just stupid me forgot to label things and take notes.

 

Basically car has no power on ACC and when you turn the key to crank my fuel pumps get power and buzz away but starter motor doesn't crank.
