zzzzed Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Ok next issue is none of my lights or turn signals are working but I will start with the turn signal All I can get from it is a click from a rectangular box that is attatched to a bracket on the right hand for well it will click when I apply the indicator either left or right and it will click wether the ignition is on or off with the key out. Here is a photo of it. What is it for I am not even sure if it is wired correctly. Also there are two different plugs for the flasher unit. Which one is the correct one. Quote
pauly_adams Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 use the white plug, also if your car has hazzard lights then chances are your indercators run through there also Quote
zzzzed Posted December 16, 2012 Author Posted December 16, 2012 I dant have a hazard light switch Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted December 16, 2012 Moderators Posted December 16, 2012 Top one looks like the horn relay; my early zed has that on the left hand side kick panel. With the turn signals, first make sure you have the loop plug plugged into where the hazard switch goes (located behind the heater control panel) and then make sure all your globes are okay and working. Check each light with a small 12v gel cell battery or something that can give 12V directly to the plug for each light. Plug a flasher can in each plug you have pictured so you know or you can just swap it from one to the other. I think the two separate ones are for the indicators. If still no action, check the switch itself with a multimeter on diode check or continuity so it beeps when the switch is closed. I know globes that are burnt or not making a good connection can play havoc with the indicators hence the check with an external power supply. Quote
zzzzed Posted December 16, 2012 Author Posted December 16, 2012 My combination switch wiring on my steering colum is a dogs breakfast. The previous owner has patched in later model indicator and head light stalks. I might have to hunt down the correct ones. If it is the horn relay that is clicking when I turn on the indicators then something is not right. Quote
zzzzed Posted December 16, 2012 Author Posted December 16, 2012 Oh and there's no power going through the turn signal fuse in the fuse box Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted December 17, 2012 Moderators Posted December 17, 2012 Sounds like alot of "improvisations" have been done. Try and remove any extra added wiring and try to match up all the original plugs/connectors. Quote
