peter t Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Hi My son has a Auto Pintara. It is reving high in first before changing into second and on slowing down bangs when engaging first. Oil is ok, nice and red but changed it anyway but still doing the same thing. Any Ideas? Thanks in advance for any replies. Quote
zzzzed Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 My old 93 Telstar used to do this. I think it was a valve in the transition that was fulty. Quote
neRok Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 Did you change the filter? Blocked filter would result in low pressure, just like it does with fuel and oil. Quote
dat2kman Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 Modulator valve body is faulty. An overhaul kit includes a new pan gasket and a new mod body. Dont try to repair the old one, too complicated. Plug and play. If old fluid that came out smelt like burnt toast, the bands/drums may need adjusting, if possible in those units? I did a couple of TH 400 Chev tranns, fitted a "shift kit" body to them, made a world of difference, crisp shifts, no sluggish action, and when manually shifting the lever, it did what you wanted, when you wanted it. It was stuck on the back of a 383 cube in a 66 Belair, up the arse was a Ford 9" with a Detriot locker, THAT banged around, a lot!! Thing'd pull some cool licquorice strips on the road! Quote
peter t Posted December 15, 2012 Author Posted December 15, 2012 Thanks Guys, Old oil looked good [still red] and no burnt smell. This box doesn't have a bottom pan and I don't have a service manual. Will have to rip up to Auto Barn and get one to find out about the part you mention. Quote
