Azman Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Hey guys, whilst I was cleaning up my car for sale I come across something that puzzled me and prompted me to get some clarafication. What exactly is the difference between a HS30 and a S30? And I also noticed on my car in the back right hand corner of the engine bay above the brake booster where the build number is stamped, my car has the prefix GRS before it, what is this there for if anything at all? Any info greatly appreciated. Az Quote
warrenz Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Hi Technically S30 is a Japanese Domestic Market prefix for the 240 and HS30 is the right hand drive export variant, but S30 is also used as the generic model name when referring to the 240. GRS is the 260 2+2. Have a read of Gav's blog on the subject http://datsun-240z-blog.viczcar.com/s30-zcar-chassis-prefix.html Cheers Warren Quote
NZeder Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 S30 = Chassis design or general model code if you like. But a S30 then the body/chassis number = Fairlady Z = JDM model = 2000cc HS30-xxxxx = H=L24 = 240z or Fairlady 240z (depends on the market ie Japan = Fairlady 240z) RS30-xxxxx = R =L26 = 260z or Fairlady 260z (however all Fairlady 260z were meant to be recalled, have the L26 carbed engine replaced with L20aE EFI engines - the chassis were restamped to S31-xxxxx = Fairlady Z) GRS30-xxxxxx = G = 2+2 (long wheels base) R=L26 =260z 2+2 This is just the basic info - and back then Nissan did not have the chassis code to show if the car was a Auto, Manual, factory ZG model etc. Quote
