dat240z Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 So, I get my car back from the mechanic who was tidying up a few things for engineering and have noticed where he has jacked the car up at the rear, its put a hole/dented where the jack met the body work. Do you think this damage is caused by incorrect position of jack, or a rusty undercarriage? When I did the build last year, we bitumened and rust protected all undernear and it was clean.... Any ideas? Seriously depressed atm Quote
Retro Z Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Most likely would be rust or a combination of rust and the jack. The jack would just dent or fold the metal and shouldnt really peirce through. Sometimes if not applied correctly the 'tar' can actually chip off and trap water. Or maybe see if the mechanic can compensate. Don't stress wouldnt be hard to fix if you have a welder and some sheetmetal. Quote

dat240z Posted October 20, 2012 Author Posted October 20, 2012 Hmm, he jacked it at the rear (not using diff obviously) about an inch or two from the start of the rear wheel houising. Its not the right spot i know that, but if its a combo of rust and wrong position where is the liability here?? Just so bummed as tits the first rust ive found in it. I genuinley (stupidly maybe) thought this one was fully free...... So to fix, do you guys think just a spot of welding and sheetmetal huH? Quote
