I have just left the original struts and springs in the front of mine With the old P76 V8 for years. Now Putting the LS1 into it and keeping the same set up. They work well .

P.S the all alloy V8 weighs about the same of a little lighter than the original six.

Just wondering what others with a V8 run on front coils.

custom springs and Koni shocks, my Nissan V8 puts out massive torque, so had to go for 400lb rear springs, but is pleaseant to drive on the road and does not bottom out on acceleration.

Agree with previous post, my V8 weighs the same as the straight 6 it replaced, but generates alot more power and speed.

That's your biggest factor there Scoot. You can't really tar all of the V8 brigade with the same brush as most have lighter engines than standard. That, and how low or stiff you want it.

The aussie 302 Cleveland weighs 45 Kilograms more than the L26, with enough Alloy bits and a Fibreglass bonnet i could save that weight. Thanks for the tips guys this will help me out no end.

im tried coil overs with 250lb all round but wasnt happy so running 380 lb up front with 420 lb in rear it is stiff but car still squats and handles well

Well i saved 14 kilos on the manifold alone and alloy heads are worth a 20 kilo reduction, as a non running ride (as yet might be only 2 weeks away) i will need to test it under various conditions to see what combo i use. The coilovers sound like the go because i like the ride height adjustment.

I have coil overs in my ve ute, once height was set have never been adjusted. Coil overs in 280zx and never really adjust the height. If you get the right spring and quality shock you don't need the adjustment. Fwiw my ls1 uses 7kg (390lbs) all round but I want a bit more in the front. Mine is track only.

What i'm thinking of is dropping it lower for shows. Perhaps i should airbag it for a real hotrod look.
