dat240z Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Hi guys, as the project is drawing to a close Im paying attention to the little/cosmetic things. One thing I like from the Zstore is the push start button kit, which looks the goods and seems to be well suited to the z ignition barrel. Has anyone used/installed these kits, and are they as good/easy as the seller suggests? Security concerns? I have a proper alarm/immobilizer + GPS tracker, and also Sparco quick release wheel. I think even if it did get broken into and started, theyd struggle to get it anywhere without the wheel. Quote
Retro Z Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 I got one. Yet to install it though. I purchased it off the guy who makes them via Hybridz forums, before they get onsold to MSA who marks it up a fair bit. Mine is the white button from the Altima/Maxima. He also makes the red button for a little extra from (r35 gtr). Quality looks very good and comes with instructions. Can be hooked up to a kill switch or alarm aswell as a keyless entey proximity sensor. There were a bunch of videos of it on youtube. Try searching Datsun E-Z start in youtube or hybridz forums. Heaps of info on there about it. Quote
dat240z Posted July 10, 2012 Author Posted July 10, 2012 Thanks Retro, what sort of price before MSA got their cut? Ive seen the videos etc, and to be honest it looks really simple but i thought id see if in actual application it is.... I like the white button one, the whole unit looks pretty classy. Quote
sexual_sushi Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Funny I just saw this on the Hybrid site on the weekend. Looks really tidy and simple, a few reviews on teh hybrid forum have confirmed that it is really simple to setup and works well. I want a decent proximity key fob thing if I were to do it though. http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/98889-daves-new-startstop-button-ignition-system/page__st__100 Note that the price from the first page has gone up, check the last few pages although he doesn't seem to want to make any more. Retro Z Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Its going back about a year, but if i remember correctly it was just under $200 aud delivered. I remember at the time Aus dollar was high just after Christmas 2011. I will document mine when i install it in the next month or so. Quote
dat240z Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 Too good. 200 landed is a steal. I think its only a little more 300ish? but im waiting for a postage cost from MSA to work out if I buy just that, or a stack. @ Sushi Can you get a proximity "key" to suit it? thats means the key needs to be in range of push button system to activate it? sexual_sushi Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Apparently: If you find an RFID system, with a "ground when away" (wire goes to ground when the RFID tag is not within range) then hook that wire up to the Orange wire and you're good. So just have to find a decent system. I think the guys problem was that he could not find a good enough system that was cheap enough to add as a 'kit'. If you are prepared to pay a little I'm sure there are plenty of options. Feel free to post any if you find them Quote
sexual_sushi Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 PS minimum shipping from MSA will be at best, $60. I would expect 100ish plus more if you are getting big or weighty items. If you can buy direct from the guy he is selling for $200. Looks like he is doing a group order atm and needs numbers so if you tell him you're in it will get the ball rolling. Quote
benny Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 This mob here sells proximity keys/alarms that you could integrate- http://bluewiremotorsport.com/collections/car-alarms Ben Quote
