Hi guys. Need some help. Basically tried to install my l28et into my 73 240z and it seems one of the mount bolts is about an inch off. Now i've changed L engines several times before on my previous 2+2's but this one seems different.

Engine was pulled from my 74 2+2 and going into my 73 240z on a 72 crossmember. Currently hanging in my engine bay, have a load leveller and have tried turning, twisting, tilting and can only seem to get in one of the bolts the other is way off. Any ideas?

Are engine mount bracket / arms different from a 2+2 and a 240z? Drivers side is a short bracket and passenger side is the longer one. Is that correct?. Have i done something wrong? The engines been out for over a year and pretty sure i didnt remove or swap brackets etc

Any help would be appreciated.

Will post up pics shortly.

Thanks

Tai

Lovely big clear photos!

Umm, the bracket between the block and the rubber mounts, are they on correct side? They look like they are.

I have to mark mine L & R to save hurting my brain

The rubber mounts are both the same.

Try doing it the other way, fit the rubber mounts to the crissmember, then lower block with brackets done up loosely, so you can jiggle them around to make line up.

I've always removed the two smaller bolts from the insulator rather than just the whole mount. As Jason recommended, install the insulator then try an line up the smaller bolts. I've never seen a difference between 240 - 260 cross members.

Thanks Dat2kman and Dimitri.  I utilised both ideas and it worked a treat. So after a year the engine is finally resting in its place. Will sleep easy tonight.  ;D

Thanks guys.
