chris240 Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Here is the Holy Bible that we need to refer to for ALL vehicle modification. Its produced by the Australian Department of Infrastructure & Transport. We probably need to refer to around 7 or 8 of the listed documents. Im not 100% sure if this National code of practise now overides specific State legislation. It makes for frustrating but important reading. http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/vehicle_regulation/bulletin/vsb_ncop.aspx We should make this a sticky perhaps. Quote
DAZDA Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Chris, I made mention of the National Code of Practice (NCoP) in the first line of this post. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,10912.msg109537.html#msg109537 I also noted in that post that I’m pretty sure (happy to be proven wrong), since vehicle registration is a state based service (if you can call it that), the states don’t have to follow the NCoP exactly. They can go above and beyond for example. So it pays to find your state's relevant requirements/legislation. Here are some of the Vic requirements, very similar to NCoP. http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/Registration/PermitsModificationsAndDefects/Modifications/NotifyingVicRoadsOfChangesAndModifications.htm Quote
saxon Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 The vicroads info is such rubbish. Doesnt go into detail at all. Wish it had the same detail as the national one. Quote
Brabham Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 What is the weight of a 240Z for the purposes of engine swaps? Looks like it will be close as to whether you are allowed a 3 liter turbo Quote
zed240au Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 The weight according to tasmanian road authority for a 240z is 1068 kg funny enough that is same as wikipedia says 1068kg The thing to remeber is that according to code of practise for purposes of engine changes u can use weight of heavier version of the same body car with larger motor for this exercise the 260z 2 seater 1207kg Big difference here is that the capacity of engine you can have changes at 1100 kg in that below 1100kg u multiply weight by 4 to get capacity eg 1068kg by 4 equals 4.27 litre that you can have above 1100 kg you multiply by 5 so eg 1207kg by 5 equals 6.035 litres fun arguement to have with road authority getting them to believe a 260z 2 seater exists lol mick Quote
