Mounting frame rails on the inside of the floor?

A very stupid question i know and woudln't happen for ages but...

 

Since the lowest parts of our cars are the frame rails and then there is no other part of the body as such for mayb 30mm, would mounting the frame rails on the inside of the floor be a feasible option? sure its structural but does it matter what side of the sheet its supporting? and would it cost heaps to get done? and be a pain to get engineered?

 

i'm just thinking that long term i'd like my car lower, but it already scrapes enough on some driveways etc, and is probably close enough to the legal limit of the lowest part being 100mm off the ground

Interesting, I wouldn't do it personally as i'd rather frame rails bottoming out on a driveway than my floorpan. Wouldn't take many hits to punch a hole in the floor.

On the 8th day God invented the coil over kit. If your car is that low it's probably too low for the street. Go for coilovers so you can wind it up and down.

 

Best solution in my opinion.

 

One of the reasons I don't run a front air damn on my Zed is simply because I hate avoiding driveways. I also kind prefer a Z without an air damn but that's besides the point. :wink:

while you can just wind it up and down doesn't it take awhile and you need to corner weight it to make sure they are all even?

 

good point regarding the holes in the floor...

 

fwiw gav with running 205/60r14's on the front (smaller diameter than sotck) and 195 70's on the rear (which i think is pretty close to the proper size) my front spoiler cleared the gutters in car parks by about 5mm, now by the look of it, it will clear by quite a bit, so i want it lower again but dont really want to run lower profile tyres...and my wallet doesn't agree with coilovers well i need to save something lol

I went for a run in a mates R32 couple months ago and he had the fully electronicly adjustible suspention set up. Litttle motors on top of the struts letting him adjust everthing, on the run as the road dictates.

 

 

But at $2500 not cheap
