Engine rebuild and cam profile

Hello All,

 

Just about to get a engine freshen up but need advice on cam profile please.

 

So Engine specs -

 

.040 flat top piston

Triple carbs 40mm

New bearings etc etc etc

Head lightly ported and polished

Extractors

 

I'm looking for low to mid range so 3000 - 6000ish rpms

 

So what cam profile to use, Wade cams suggested this "

,,,  a 72 works cam will work well with your combo but if its a n42 head it will ping its ass off with a flat top

the cam wade is a 67.5 deg cam and will have lots of cylinder presher and works real nice for streat cars with a p90 late e88 ,, with a n42 the chamber will ping with a flat top ,, you will need 98 fuel and run 28deg timing at 5000rpm

yep with n42 and flat top you can not run the timing you wont with our fuel,  its a real compromise as the chamber wont take compresion ,its not a good shape ,if its modified by welding and reshaped its the best head ,,, but standard there horrible

So stickwith the STD pistons, stick in a can, more timing and some shine triplesbecause they look good.

 

Who can I get the 72 can fro

 

Also what's the cam good for? Low, mid, high etc etc

its a wade cam mate, it will pull from 3 to 6000 with your set up and will sound great

Following on,

 

With the wade 72 cam, do i need to change the valve springs, lash pads and get the rockers refaced,

 

My rockers look fine and dont seem to have much wear at all, but i've been told be some to reface and change springs and pads and others say the factory springs are fine for a mild upgrade in the cam.

Ok, Cam is back and so are the rockers,

 

Wade's took 60 thou off the cam just wondering what size lash pads I need now? if it's only 60 thou will the std rocker adjustment take that up with the std lash pads?

Put it in and measure what thickness pads you require. (It won't be 60thou more exactly)

Wouldn't recommend using up the standard adjustment. You'll end up getting a bad wipe pattern and stuff up the cam and the rockers.

 

Did you get the rocker faces linished?
