WOULD THESE WHEELS WORK ON A 240Z

no good, most likely need a 20mm spacer to push them out. +20 to +40 offset is good for FWD cars generally, Z's need around the 0 mark for stock and for ZG flares around -19 with about 9.5" wide wheels to fill the guards at the rear.

Yeh I would agree. My alloys are 16x6.5 and +20 offset and they rub on the swaybar on the right side at full lock.

 

Speaking of bolt on spacers, does anyone know where to get some that actually fit a zed? I have some but the inner diameter of the centre hole is too small for the diameter of the spindle (hub cover) and it wont sit flat on the hub.

WHy don't you just get the centre holes opened up at a machine shop. It should be an easy job for some witha lathe!?

I was worried about structural integrity, but the guy who would do it for me would know if it was ok or not (same guy who did my intake plenum (can weld awsome)).

Structural integrity? Would'nt you just be removing 3 to 4 mm?

yes but it is possible to remove the only 3-4 mm of struc integ that the wheels have.

 

always consult someone with an idea of what they know and do!! ie a wheel repairer or maker!!!

 

i personally think these wheels look sickening, even on a newer s13-s15 or what ever.

 

crikey ill sell you some decent gear so you can run new 5 stud skyline wheels, should open up your choices of what you can bolt on.

 

from the states you can get 16" konig rewinds that loooks so much nicer on our beloved s30's, and they are cheaper too!!! look them up

I've used wheel spacers before, there's heaps of alloy around the centre hole area, the manufacturer would have done the same thing if a bigger center hole was quoted I reckon.

PErsonally I would find a wheel that fits on you hub rather that adpaters. The Konig Rewinds in 16 are very tasty. Can you buy them here? If not how much would freight set you back from US?

Its actually more like 20mm as the spindle cover diameter is 70 odd mm and the spacer is 50mm inner diameter, thats why. I dont have to run them, but just want to. I would be able to sell them easy and the 2 i have for the back fit fine.

i can't seem to find any solid information on what stud pattern and offset fb rx7's ran, does anyone know if their wheels will work on a zed?

 

the only info i've found is they are 4x110, if thats the case getting them machined out to 4x114.3 wouldn't b that big an issue...would it?

Yep, it would be a big issue to get the wheels re drilled to suit. Personally not something I would like to do on a wheel that was never designed to have 8 holes around the centre as that is the only way you could do it. I also think insurance companies would have issues as would you relevant transport authority.

 

The cheapest and safest option would be to get the wheels made to suit, either the Performance minilite copies, or challenger wheels, or even go to a 3 piece simmons wheel.

yeah i get how having 8 holes instead of 4 would be an issue, although i was thinking u could elongate the holes out an extra 2mm each diagonally - so not much at all and u would have 4x114.3 with no huge strength differences, although i belive the holes are tapered/chamfered so guess that could be an issue...

 

i should be getting my rims this week, although i've said that so many times i no longer believe it myself, however just saw the wheels linked below on ebay and thought for that kinda price i'd b happy to have some legal sized? versions of the same rims lol

Not that I think it's ma good idea but you can get them redrilled with the old holes filled and welded with alloy. Turns out pretty neat so that you can't even notice where the old holes were. Not sure how strong the wheels end up but I saw this done at Steve's Wheels on Sydney rd in Coburg/Preston when I dropped in with Lurch just to have a look. I would'nt recommend going there that place is a bit rich but I do know of a place in Moorabin that does pretty good wheel repairs. These guys can also roll new outers for about $150 a side so it might be viable for someone looking at these 3 piece ROH wheels you showed. Whats their offset?

fb rx7's have +20 so its probably pretty right for our zeds, and they are dam cheap, i'm just going to leave it as i guess my parents woudln't really like another 4 rims just sitting around the place...
