are you after a standard L28ET ECU? Or an aftermarket ECU to do the job?

If its the former, best looking on Ebay US and on Hybridz, if the latter, i have a couple of megasquirts here that may work for you.

Unsure how much work you want to put into it....

Autronic SM4 brand new complete here! At $400 discount to new price too!

Cheaper than Motec, and as good, much better than Microtech

The stock l28 turbo ecu will NOT do what you are wanting it to do, based on what your plans are, so dont bother, and, you most likely wont find any for sale in Aus.

I have a couple, but they are NFS.

Autronic sm 4 for sale, and,,,

Rest of post is advice re the stock L28 et ecu lack of availability, and rarity, and more importantly, to suggest you dont waste time and effort.

Thats why i posted!!!

You could try some more  of the high performance drift car workshops that specialise in turbo high power configurations, they all seem to advertise how good they are on sites like Secret Dicks, or, Boost Loosing, but i suspect thats been done, a lot!

yeh sorry man wont be able to do that maybe for my new engine but just for this engine im only spending 2k all up with buying ecu and fitted

Thats cool Ben, the Autronic is avail right now,  the Microtech will take how long to order and arrive?

Yep it is less cost, but they do less, and mapping is inferior to Autronic and Motec, but for basic control, should be pretty good

When you do go for bigger better engine combo, youll no dobt want better control of it all, so $1600 for MT  now, then$3000 for a good ecu late on.

Its also worth noting that the OEM support from Microtech is f#$@ing atrocious.

They also charge through the nose for everything.

The microtech is set up for the application you are running, if you go and change something, eg reluctor dizzy changes to optical, or crank/cam pickup, you have to pay microtech to change it internally in the ECU. Same goes for if you do a complete engine swap later.

At least with the Autronic (And most other ECU's) you can change configurations in the tuning software, so its not a big hassle if you do go and swap the motor for something else later.

I ended up getting a second hand Haltech E6X off fleabay for $500, just had to be a little patient.

If half of this is true, I'm glad I've used Haltech up to now...

I've had a Haltech E6A in use on my cars since 1997 - on 3 different engines in 3 different cars. The only thing I had to do was get a ROM (firmware) upgrade shortly after purchase (the decel-cutoff was buggy), and buy a 4-cylinder injection loom for when I fitted it to the DR30. It's still going strong nearly 15 years later!

My next ECU (for the Z) will likely be a ViPEC (very similar to the Autronic).

IF you have the factory loom etc, and all factory sensors.... you have a couple of good options.

I HAVE seen an L28et run with a RB30e ECCS ecu with Nistune.... a bit exxy at the start, but goes very well, and is reliable.

Firstly Id invest in new or reco injectors, the stock units will eventually fail.

Otherwise, I have  L28et ECU here doing nothing, (its a JECS labled unit, looks fine)

the VL has 6 injectors. so does yours.

the VL has a single coil, so does yours.

The VL has an optical dizzy, you can get one for yours (L28ET dizzy)

The capacity is pretty damn close, so you may only need to tweak the maps a bit.

If the price is right, buy it.

Worst case, you need a new loom, either make one if you have the knowledge/skills or buy a brand new one for about $130.

$500 is a good market price.

not super cheap, but also not expensive.

They are very capable ECU's.

Make sure you sign up to the Haltech forum (link on the haltech site)

they are a very smart bunch of people. the tuning software is free to download.

Oh, one other thing

If you do get an optical dizzy, you can put the Z31 300zx chopper disc in it, then connect up a waste spark coil pack, like whats fitted to any V6 VN-VX commodore, then you have direct fire ignition.

Thats what im doing on mine.
