rustynuts Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I have recently returned home to Australia and am in shock at the cost of vehicles here..I have lived in the states most of my adult life and have only been back for two weeks. It's not just the cost of a vehicle but every thing related to the running of that vehicle , fuel, tyres ,rego and so on..Here is one example , The Suzuki kizashi made in Japan and sold here as well as the states . the Kizashi sells for msrp around $19,126 before tax and the tax will very depending on the state you live in anywhere from 5% to 10% of the cost of the vehicle..The same vehicle sells here for around $29.000 I'm not sure if that includes tax and stamp (duty) and that is another thing to discuss at a later date..There is one thing that i almost for got to mention that the Japanese drive on the same side of the road as we do here . And the vehicle for the u.s. market has to be made left-hand drive an extra cost of production I'm sure . So why are you paying a BIG $10.000 more for the Kizashi?????????????????????????.. Quote
luvemfast Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Ummmm..... Hi RustyNuts Anything Z related? Or just a random rant? Quote
handsandwhich Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Hello and welcome to the 19th century. Try buying mercedes or BMW (amongst many others) here and see how much you get shafted. Quote
Veloce Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Yes, nothing new to see here. Everything in Australia is a complete rip-off compared to the rest of the world. No wonder why all the car parts i buy come from the UK or US. I don't enjoy sending our money overseas but the difference is massive, even with hefty freight chanrges it still comes out way cheaper.
