Sooley Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Hi Guys I have the compliance plate from my car trhat is in really bad condition and I really want it to get re made, but I don't now anyone who does them. Can anyone give me a heads up as to where I can get one remade. Any help would be great Anthony Quote
Mr Camouflage Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Umm, i think it might be illegal to re-make compliance plates. Better check with the Department of Transport first. How bad is yours. If it isn't bent up, cleaning it up with some car polish and a tooth brush worked for me. Quote
Zeddophile Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 I can't remember if the whole compliance plate is stamped, or if some of it is printed/painted... if its all stamped, could give it a light sandblast to clean it up, assuming its just corroded... Would come up like new. Quote
JP240z Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 i remember a guy selling blank plates on ebay US. i think all you needed to do was stamp in the engine number etc. i think the cops probly got him . Quote
Mr Camouflage Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 We're talking about compliance plates. They are issued by the Australian Government, and I think they would get a bit upset if you started reproducing them. They don't have engine numbers on them - just the Chassis number, ADR's and type of vehicle. The ones you saw on Ebay were probably Repro Nissan ID plates, which you can get reproduction versions of. I don't think theres any problem with them, unless you go stamping different numbers onto them.  Quote
JP240z Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 cant remember too well, but these were the silver ones, not that black omes. and i remember feeling highly rebellious just viewing the auction at the time. Quote
nat0_240_chevZ Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 if they were just silver then probly not an aussie adr comp plate i would be sure of!!!! black and silver rigy dig style ones, most probably otherwise they are for US market only. (i would assume as US selling Aussie plates is unheard of) nato Quote
Sooley Posted April 8, 2007 Author Posted April 8, 2007 As you can see its pretty bad. I was thinking the road and traffic authority might be able to reproduce it for me, for a steep fee no doubt. Any ideas??? Anthony Quote
