.
I am wanting to try my hand at lead loading. I am wondering where I would find the lead and flux? I know my father used to use it in the dark old days when he was a roofing plumber. He used it to seal the joints in gutters. Any ideas? lightmaster240z
Try tradelink or your local pluming supplies or some of the older hardware store
Retro Z
Just bare in mind some of the plumbing lead is different composition to that of automotive grade lead. You want the 4:1 ratio of lead to tin. As the plumbing stuff is abit softer from what I've seen. Search up for your nearest metal/sheetmetal supplier they should have some. jamo240
Hi Galderdi I asked about lead loading on this forum a while back, and one of the body guys suggested I don't bother, as it's an outdated craft, and modern plastic fillers work better anyway. If you are talking about the join in the roof turret, which is factory lead loaded, then I can advise that I replaced the turret in my car 15 years ago and after getting frustrated with trying to lead load, I did it in plastic filler, and it's never been a problem since it was replaced.
