Welcome Shaun,

Its always interesting to watch a members build. Being black it should look exactly like another members 280 2 seater.. except yours will be RB motivated. Good choice of powerplant!

Welcome!

There are a few of us here who have done RB conversions, so give us a shout if you want any ideas on how to do it.

Cheers

Great, I wasnt sure how popular the RB conversion was so Im glad to hear I dont have to re-invent the wheel, Il post up some pics soon including the body kit, it came from a guy in sydney and is supposed to be fairly rare, thanks Shaun

Welcome Shaun,

Seems we are getting a few more of the antrx members on here with different projects.  :)

Can't wait for the pics, sounds like an interesting build.

Cheers,

Hi fuzzy drop bear, how many other antrx'ers are on here? car modifying what a small world !

My 280 is a 4 seater, im still trying to pick up early model late model etc mine is the one with the cool bonnet vents not the 2 that are the same and the 5 spoke wheels, early model I think

Welcome. Is it auto or manual? You might want to double check if it has an R180 or R200 diff and if it has CVs or Unis in the rear. If you are planning to squeeze a few ponies out of the RB you should really make sure it has the R200 diff and CV half shafts to handle the horsepower.

You might also think about double checking which rear brakes your car has. The 280zx series 1 has smaller and uglier rear brakes. If you have those it would be well worth an upgrade to series 2 calipers (or something better)

Good luck with the project.

Laurence is here every now and again, he came down to one of our meets as well. There was another bloke, but I'm not sure if he ended up with a Z or not.

So this is going to replace the trx as the track car is it? Did anyone end up buying your KA, or did you end up sticking it under the bench?

Cheers.

My 280 is a manual, unfortunately it has the R180 rear end in it, isnt the R200 rear pretty rare? how do you tell? I think I landed the crap brakes to they are a really weird looking caliper

The 280 is a just a comfy cruiser project my new track car is a 200sx Silvia the Pinatara was fun but limited with the amount of power the FWD setup could handle, I still have the insane KA under my bench kinda hopeing to drop it into the 910 bluebird body I have laying about, but alas never enough hours in the day for toys to much work lol

Cheers

The r200 isn't particularly rare unless you insist on lsd. The series 1 brakes are significantly smaller than the series 2. If you are truely just going to cruise they will do. But anything more lively realy would lend itself to the larger brakes.
