My Autronic SM4 is standalone.  The biggest advantage is mostly due to not relying on the standard looms (spliced), I had so many problems.  It wasn't cheap, but very worth it.  I don't believe the 90mm throttle body is all its cracked up to be considering the price, its barely any bigger, but the forward facing plenum is more than worth the price in regards to reducing lag.

I'm in Canberra.

I had a read through your project page and noticed you had a power FC at some stage during the build, why the change in cpu ? do you still have it or is it long gone ?

Long gone, that's what I mean, it was full of wiring problems and very unreliable.  It cost me a whole lot of money in tuning when it dropped the tune when they switched the car off afterwards :(.  A bunch of other things and it just became silly to keep going.

Well the car has gone to get its new CV setup, I'm sure that the setup i have opted for will never break, i poked my head in down there to see how it was going and see what had been done. Long story short there has been a couple of issues. It turns out that my diff input CV shafts dont allow for enough movement, apparently it needs a double plunger style CV. This is an issue for my diff, although it is an R200 it is a viscous diff and uses different input shafts. so now my setup will consist of the following.

Custom input shafts, custom adaptors to go at the stub axle end, custom axles to in between the 2 x VU commodore GTS CV's.

It should never brake, but the stub axle itself is still standard. I think if anything brakes that's what will go.

Has anyone here gone to this trouble before when doing  custom setup ? if so what did you spend on it ?

Since the car was out of the garage i thought id take some more pics and post them, there is still ma few bits missing off the car at the moment, not long now. Should be driving it this weekend forsome test runs.

I recently had the door trims re done also, i got him to use the original insert and replace the outer section with new vinyl. They look nice and also look semi stock. Was a good budget option while still maintaining a stock look. something on the car has to look stock.

Well it has been a long four weeks waiting for the CV setup to be completed, No it is finally done. Very exciting times, been able to take it for a drive around the block a few times, But with no exhaust yet i feel the neighbours will get angry pretty quickly. I finished bolting up the spoiler and front bar. Front bar was a pain, Have to make up a spacer to move the bumper bracket further back. So much for it being a nice fit. Getting the spoiler to fit correctly was a pain as well, had to trim the return that goes into the wheel arch to create some more clearance for the wheels. only left me with one option to mounts it. Two screws through the top under the bumper.

Still need to cut the flares to suit, Paint and mount the rear bar. Sort out the indicators and a few other little electrical things. But from tomorrow it has its temporary rego !! So off to get the exhaust, wheel alignment and hopefully engineering for the road worthy. At least after tomorrow ill be able to drive it without fear of being pulled over.

Feels OK on the road. Badly needs a wheel alignment,

1st and 2ND gear disappears in about 3 seconds, Hit the rev limiter once or twice. hard to tell with no exhaust, Very Very loud. looks like ill need to speed up my shifting speed.

Speedo is yet to calibrated, so speed details to come. After all the hassle of installing the new gauges the boost gauge is "sticky" and i have to tap the front to get the needle to drop down. Very annoying.

Here is the latest pic, Could finally move it outside under its own power today, into the sun to get a couple more pics. Coming together nicely.

Am looking forward to a club event to come along to and meet some fellow Zed fans in the flesh.

Thanks Scando, its only a few shades darker then factory, I had painted it in the original orrange, first time painting a car and the paint and colour looked terrible, Back to the paint shop, make it darker and give me 8 litres of it !!. The body and paint arent perfect, but for a home job, im wrapped.

Im looking for a good bonnent if anyone has one to off load ? otherwise ill have to go with glass. Thats the last peice of the body.
